Now I may be showing my age here but as my lad is coming up 16 I've been looking at peds and to say I'm dissappointed in the lack of choice is an understatement !

What is it with all the twist and go gaypeds today ? where have the good old trialies and roadies gone that had proper gears, big bores and microns ? Anyone else here old enough to remember the FS1E or the SS50 ? what about the DT50, RD50 and the good old Suzuki TS50, where are the modern replacements ?

Is there really no other choice out there now other than uninspiring plastic covered twist and go coffee grinders and cheap chinese crap ?

It's no wonder you don't see kids buzzing around on peds anymore if this is what we've come to ! Confused

Mike

PS hello all, it's been a while Cool

Not one i had the pleasure of, although I did have the pleasure of owning a 1977 Garelli Tiger Cross 50 that used to give my mates CB100 a good run until it holed the block on a particularly long downhill section with an indicated 63 mph on it's well dodgy clock Laughing

ahh memories of Castrol R and weekly rebuilds Mr. Green

Derbi do various 50s in sports and supermoto/off road guise. There was the TZR50. Think there's various other Italian 50s, never mind the tarty looking corrosion buckets of chinese bikes.
Plenty of road legal pit bikes that offer the chance of sticking in a 110cc Smile.

the only people who want gears on a 50 are 16 year olds.

Everyone else wants a 50 because they have a lack of confidence and want a twist a go moped where they dont have to learn how to use gears.

if your target audience is as specific as 16 year old males, then you will go bust.

I had 2 a50p when i was a lad.

This style would still be popular if they were not restricted to walking pace.
No point getting something more like a real bike with gears when a hairdryer will do the same speed

Get your son an old classic, he'll get laughed at until they realise as standard it'll piss all over their crappy peds

(my son has a crappy ped and won't give it up for a cg Rolling Eyes )
