No1 Son asked me to film filtering through traffic on my way home from work.

I've uploaded to youtube and just noticed a Police car at 1:28 flashing his lights at me. I never saw him on the day.

I think I might have upset him - Expecting a nasty letter through the post Sad

I suspect that you didn’t see the lights at the time because they weren’t actually flashing. Only a guess, but is that not just some sort of weird strobing effect caused by the relative frequencies of the camera frame rate and the Audi’s LED sidelights?

MA09 NYC I think is the reg plate if anyone wants to do a search whether it is a plod vehicle. Is that an S4? It would seem a bit of a fairly upmarket car for a police wagon.

I'm going to say serendipidy's probably on the money.

THIS! Thumbs Up

The LED's are probably flashing too fast for the naked eye but the camera picked it up and made them appear to flash, try filming a TV screen and you will probably see what i mean.

Unmarked, therefore not a uniformed constable, so failing to stop does not apply.

Could be, I can't find any similar audis on youtube with the same effect though.

The effect is more interesting on helicopters and prop planes, some n00b always claims "anti-gravity" Wink

If the driver is not in uniform, then correct, but that only applies to the crew not the vehicle.

If the vehicle is unmarked but the crew are in uniform, then normal rules do apply, although in some circumstances discretion is applied in respect of where and when an attempt to stop a vehicle is made.

Either way, it is not an issue.

Thames Valley do not use Audi's since we had one on trial in the 1980's.

All the Thames Valley fleet are Vauxhalls, including the plain cars.

i've noticed this aswell but always forget after the program so never get round to looking into it.

the theory of the camera frame rate being quicker than the eye makes sense.
