I am wanting to go to the TT next year with a mate and have looked on the Steam Packet website for ferry prices, the problem is they are not releasing prices until january. I was wondering if anyone out there has been before and could give me some idea of prices so that I know how much to budget for the trip. I will be going with a car and caravan so any help or advice would be appreciated.

Arm and a leg, plus your first born child. I went once a good few year's back. Never again due to the crossing price.
If you can do it go early and come back late. Taking the caravan with you. And get who ever is coming over to fly. May work out a lot cheaper.

You'll be looking at approx £240, and according to a mate who looked at the site over the weekend, you can get there in time for the races but you cant get home for a week after they finish.

This is last years prices https://www.steam-packet.com/en/~/media/A0285FD5146C4234A1F6A27BA6DF0643.ashx

You will be very lucky now to get any good ferry dates/times I booked mine on the first day of release in June and then most were gone.

So you booked your tickets before the prices were released?

Most of the TT regulars book next years TT sailings on the way home from this years TT, it's the only way of guaranteeing that you will get the sailing times you prefer. Bookings are secured by a £20 deposit with the balance payable when the ticket prices are released, usually Feb/march. Prices vary year on year but usually only by a few pounds, current fuel prices make a big difference.
Best advice is to book as early as possible and take any sailing times you can get, people always change plans or their circumstances change and they cancel so you can usually change your sailing times to something more suitable and there is no charge for doing so.
The same goes for accommodation, book as early as possible !

Just scanned through the replys so I am not sure if anyones mentioned this yet.

But you can't take a caravan to the IoM.

I have heard you can appy for a permit of some sort but don't know if thats true or not. I've never seen a caravan there besides a couple of old ones for some marshall's areas.

You CAN bring a caravan over to the island, in fact there are more appearing here each year. You must first apply for an importation permit from the Planning Committee at the Department of Infrastructure. The DoI seldom if ever refuse a permit application. A copy of the permit is sent to the Steam Packet Co. You should apply a couple of weeks in advance of your sailing date as the SPCo will not ship your caravan if they haven't recieved their copy of the permit.
