... as the title says I'm having a second bash at my mod 2 next Wednesday, the only problem is I haven't had any extra lessons, haven't really riden much since I failed last time. I don't even have an instructor to take me to the test centre.

When I failed the first time I failed on indicating and making progress. There wasn't really anything else on the sheet worth mentioning.

Point of this post is.... what happens if I turn up at the test centre without an instructor? I'm not saying that the instructor was crap or anything, but I don't want him to teach me on my next test.

If I'm using my own bike, equipment, fuel, insurance etc, how much would be a fair price for lessons?

If you done mod 1 on a 125 then there is no reason you have to have the instructor there for mod 2 providing your bike is a 125.

If it was DAS and you were on their bigger bike I guess the problem would be you would have to do the mod 2 on a bigger bike. The problem then would be getting said big bike to and from the test centre without the relevant insurance. Not sure if you can insure a big bike on L plates.

if you turn up at the test centre with no instructor and no obvious legal way of having got the bike there, I'd say if you're not refused, you're at least going to be marked very very hard.

You can't even ride it down your drive without being in radio contact with a qualified instructor/examiner, unless you are you aren't insured.

It is illegal to ride to the test center on your own, but you don't have to ride with an instructor. I did my test without having any lessons at all and when it came to getting to the test center I just had my uncle ride with me. I phone up the DVLA to make sure this was ok and they said it was fine as long as the person riding with me had x(3 I think?) years of riding experience.

You're covered on your bike on a provisional licence, only when accompanied by a certified instructor and are wearing hi-vis, are in radio contact, and are displaying L plates.

I looked into this too when I was doing mine, I have to get someone with a full licence to ride mine to the test centre, it was illegal to ride unaccompanied.

Unless your uncle was a qualified instructor, that would've been illegal.

When I phone the DVLA I did explain that I didn't have an instructor because I hadn't done any lessons and they said it was ok. The tester also knew that my uncle was not a qualified instructor and they did not say anything, so I assumed it was ok.

Angel Girl might be right about the insurance but that was never pointed out to me so I assumed everything was legal.

The DVLA are morons, you should have phoned the DSA or even your local test centre who would have told you it was illegal.

It's done now and you got away with it but it WAS illegal.

OP - trailer the bike to the test centre or get a mate to ride it there for you.
