That was an accident just waiting to happen.
If you look at that picture, the road is on a brow of hill.

Seems the bike had been going up the hill and hadn't seen the guy until it was too late.

Oops. It's only missing "...and then running over his basket of kittens". I wouldn't like to be that biker when he goes up before the Beak.

Google streetview make that whole stretch look fairly dangerous, judging by the number of no overtaking signs it must be an accident black spot, seen from the opposite direction that hill is pretty steep.

Just been reading the comments at the bottom of the article, Ya'll don't know sh1t! The accident had nothing to do with the hill, or the road, it's all because the government are making cutbacks Rolling Eyes

Actually it was probably down to the fact the biker was going too fast and/or wasn't paying enough attention.

All this talk about not enough police patrolling up and down the road is nonsense.

The police station is less than a mile down the road from where that accident took place and there are speed camera signs all along Dracaena avenue (there aren't any cameras btw), which don't make a blind difference to the speed people go up and down there.

It's probably the most dangerous road in Falmouth and accidents were still happening way before any 'cutbacks'.

I agree, funding for extra police to carry out speed checks might have an effect, but you can't have someone there 24/7.

I will probably get some bad karma for this but some of you guys are so fast to be judgemental when we don't know the facts.
just by looking at the picture i can straight away see an error on both sides, 1, all us drivers are (should be) cautious of blind spots, whether its a steep hill or a sharp bend and same goes for the lollipop man (bless his soul) 2, its never a good idea to do a crossing at any blind spot be it a hill or a bend.
We had to walk about 400 meters down from our school for our lollipop lady because of the hill which is now a zebra crossing.

edit* after taking another look at the photo, it would probably be in the councels interest to put a set of lights right there if there is a lot of incidents in that spot.

Is 'The Packet' Cornwall's equivient to the Daily Mail?

I blame the Conservatives for the funding cuts. It is no good them passing all the blame on to the previous Labour government. It was the Conservatives that originally privatised everything, including the railways. They had fifteen years in power before and everyone must have got fed up with them because that is why Labour got in. The Conservatives have not allocated the funding fairly for the police forces, including the rural policing allowance.

I would presume it is a 30 or even 20 limit. So why was the motorcyclist riding so fast he couldn't stop?

Because of the Conservatives.

That's my favourite road to practise my stand up wheelies on, I hope they don't police it more. Sad
