I want to make my Facebook friends list invisible to people I'm not friends with, or alternatively anyone
Facebook's own help website and Google didn't really help me

Go to your profile
Click edit profile (top right).
Click Friends and Family (left side)
Then where it says Friends, there is little figure of a head to the right of it. Click that and you can select who can view it.
