My dad got a letter through the door reading "I put your parcel in the green bin outside." The usual, the postmans been but is too lazy to actually take your parcel back so leaves it somewhere... Well, my dad had been on holiday for a few days, the bins around his area are left outside the houses where the bin men can collect them.

Dad comes back to find no parcel.

Item value, roughly £60

Royal Fail Laughing

He went down to the postie and handed the guy the letter he'd written. Instantly understood what had happened. Currently claiming compensation. Common sense not to put a parcel in a bin?

I found a parcel in our bin but no note or anything. Lucky I was putting something in there.

Possibly one the most stupid things a postie can do. Their job is putting mail from one bag into peoples houses. Not complex but they still manage to fcuk it up.

To be fair they were at the premises, but there was no one home to collect it from him. I'd be a little unhappy about having to carry it around with me to drop back off at the depot. Granted the bin isn't the best place, but still, they occasionally put things in my shed and leave a note. Saves me a trip to the depot.

I can understand the shed, or at our old house they sometimes left it underneath the wheelbarrow. Just the fact he put it in the bin Shocked he could've even left it with the neighbours Laughing

Our postie has a van so parcels are not an issue. There is a coal bunker where post has been left before which is 1000000x more sensible than a bin. Neighbours are in always and the door is open.

Mine is a useless bastard, on the odd occasion I am at home when he tries to deliver something he doesn't even ring the doorbell, just sticks a you were not in thing through the door. Have opened the door as he was doing it once and he had to go back to the van to get the actual parcel...

Also had parcels delivered to neighbours with no note left and parcels left in recycling bins etc without a note.

Im having an argument at the moment with Parcel farce. I ordered an Ohlins shock and Gilles Rearsets, The postie singed for them himself and popped a note throgh my door saying 2parcel left next to bike".

Now, I live on a main road and anyone walking past could have seen the package. Evidently they did because when I got home the package had gone.

£860 worth of goods gone, and parcel farce will not refund me as the package was singed for!

My postie signs for my stuff but I told him I didn't mind as he leaves it hidden away. Otherise it would have to wait till the end of the week until I got early off work to be able to collect form the depot.

Re. Mr Fisty:
Three points spring to mind:
1) Fraud.
2) Small claims court.
3) (Related to point 2) Keep that note!!!

Make a complaint of fraud/theft (postman stole it) to the police, his signature won't match yours no matter how crap those electronic ones are.

And it will help if you can prove nobody could have been there to sign for it anyway.

Hang on...and you have a note the idiot wrote? Shocked And the scum are debating the toss over who's at fault?! Shocked Shocked

What did Royal Fail say when you complained about him?

I'm fortunate in that my next door neighbour has a ''drop off bin'' in his garden and my goodies are left there if I'm not in. Before this bin was sited the mail bags were simply left in his garden. One Christmas, a couple of years ago, one of the temps couldn't be bothered delivering the last bag and just left it where it was on full view for any passing scallys to nick. I took it into my house for safe keeping once it became clear that he wasn't coming back for it. I considered delivering the items myself the next day as some of the items were clearly Christmas presents but was advised by my brother, who is a postie, that I would be committing an offence if I did so. Consequently lots of the local kids didn't get their Chrimbo pressies delivered on time.
