This was in this month's BIKE magazine. It was an entire issue about how the oil is going to run out soon, and we're all fucked.

It annoyed me so much I threw the mag straight in the bin and cancelled my subscription immediately.

Ride to the local wind farm and abandon the bike there. They're ecomentals, they'll love recycling it.

Fuel is never going to run out! How would the world opperate?! They'll think up some alternative soon when they pull their socks up. Peak oil is in estimated to happen in 2015 afterall.

Oh sorry, I'll play the game now, lol.

I would go for icecream, and then take a fairly scenic route back.

I think the emphasis on the Problem with running out of fuel is just a scheme to keep people's minds off non-petroleum based energy resources.
Cars can run off vegetable oil, rapeseed oil, alcohol, methane, hydrogen... But if we all started taking the initiative and running our vehicles on such products, the oil companies would lose out on business and the governments would lose their fuel tax.

Would think pointing out the fact that we're running out of oil would make people actively look for solutions; but people don't work like that.

The main problem of running out of oil is feeding the planet.

Germany used Synthetic Fuel during WW2 and they invented a process to directly make oil and fuel from coal prior to WW2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_fuel

Unless the oil companies are sitting on a secret, German Technology will save the immediate future and coal will see a comeback.
