Okay, so i sold my iphone on ebay as not working.

Described it as i sold it, i said its been put in recovery mode, but wont update, keeps coming up with error 22?
Worked perfectly fine before it went into recovery mode.

blah blah, sold as seen.

So i send the phone out, he recieves it 'the home button isnt working, are you going to pay for it to be fixed?'

EH?! No? the home button worked when i sent it out, the phone was sold as spares and repairs and it was sold as seen. I cant help you sorry.

so he says well its false advertising if thats the case i'll be opening a case and returning the phone for a full refund.

What the fuck?
I sold the phone for £100, so he got a bargain anyway!

Any advice people?

Did he pay with paypal? If so I'd say you're probably best greasing yourself up.

Hes just clearly picked something i havent listed.
Which wasnt necessary coz the bloody button worked!!

I'm fuming!

Surely he can't send it back after i've put 'sold as seen'?
It was his own risk buying the phone..

Word!

I reckon its going to end up being returned :/ Someone said on there, yeah you sold it as spares or repairs but it was in the wrong category.
Sigh! I'm too stubborn to give up this easily Laughing

Did you write down a copy of the imei number before you sent it?

If you do have to give a refund, make sure you check it.

Did you have photos of it on the advert? If you did, check to make sure they look the same (no chips in the corner that wasn't on the one you sent out).

Wrong category?

Christ, methinks he's spent too much elsewhere and needs to claw some money back!

He knew what he was bidding on, and he deserves a slap for trying it on BUT unless you have any proof that yours was as good as described, gotta notch this one upto experience. Karma

Seriously, do you think Paypal will care about little details like that? This is why all my eBay sales are cash on collection only with no exceptions.

Don't you have any paperwork for the thing?

I make a note of serial/imei numbers of costly and/or important stuff..

If yes, then dig it out and make him message you the info, if it is the same he can send it back to be inspected, if not he can shut the fuc' up and be happy with his 'sold as seen' gadget. Laughing

The only way to avoid an auto refund far as I know is to list it as 'spares or not working'. If you did that they'll tell him to go swivel for his refund otherwise they'll just give the money back once he's proven it's posted. Of course, there's nothing to say that he's posted the phone back, only that he's sent something.

I sold my tatty iPhone 3G for £186 with a completely smashed screen, after the 3GS had come out - people pay stupid money for them.

(I replaced the 3G with a superior Android based phone)

I've agreed to a partial refund, giving him £20 back.

He tried getting £25 but i said no, played the sympathy card and said
'Well im off work due to a motorcycle accident and i was relying on the money!'

Which is partially true... Laughing

Thanks for the advice guys.

I sold a phone on amazon, perfect, as new.

Messaged 2 weeks later saying a button didn't work and wanted to return it for a refund.

I say return it and it'll be fixed and returned, they say no, money back wanted

I replied with i'm fulfilling my legal obligation by offering free repair and return to them and not heard from them since, that was a month ago.

Can't have been much of a fault if one ever existed
