|
Pics to follow, because I'm now off out on the lovely 58 plate naked Bandit 650 that I've been given as a courtesy bike while they fix mine.
In short, sat at a junction, went half way across (there was a bit of road in the middle you can wait in for traffic to clear), and the woman behind me thought I'd gone and moved away without looking. I ended up under the bike, the bike under her car, and lots of broken bits!
My Bike:
Wing mirror shattered, crash bung bent, crack in the fairing, scratched can (was original), dent on the inside where it's hit the swing arm, broken numberplate, broken mudguard, broken indicators, snapped toe section of the rear brake pedal and a few scuffs and dents here and there.
Her car:
Plastic under engine manifolds torn away, numberplate cracked.
Me:
Sore ankle where bike landed
Her:
Shaken up from the accident and me shouting at her so she'd reverse off me.

Feel your pain man. I was rear ended on my first bike, a 100cc scooter at a level crossing about 5 years ago and it was about the scariest thing I ever went through. I had stopped for two chicks, (hot btw), when some idiot drove straight through me at about 60kms an hour. The only thing that saved from serious injury or worse was that I always pull up (even on the motorbikes I ride now) over as close as I can to the the side of the road as I can when I stop anytime in traffic to allow an escape route, and he only clipped me. As it was, I was hurled about six feet into the air and landed on my ass, not my head, and only suffered only bruising and abrasions. I remember the hot chicks cos one of them screaming as I was airbourne, and me thinking I was a goner, and later her saying that it was the most spectacular thing that she had ever seen. Sweet. |

Ouch, that's my only rear - I mean, real - worry about biking.
<--------- Wonder if that'll help?
Are they fixing up your SV then? I'd have thought it would have been touch and go whether they write it off.
Don't forget to claim for your gear and any personal doodads that got so much as a smudge on them.
Oh, and did you get witnesses, or has she admitted liability? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

That just about sums up why people break it.

Hi
While there is pretty much stuff all damage, prices soon add up (prices from Robinsons Foundry).
Silencer = £843.86
Rear brake pedal = £46.65
Side fairing = £208.93
Rear fender = £99.31
So £1200 just for the first few bits, before adding things slightly damaged (bar end weight, brake lever, foot peg), smaller but wrecked (mirrors, crash bung) or sundry bolts, gaskets and labour.
With right off value being about 2/3 of the value of the bike there is a good chance it will be written off
All the best

It looks like in the photo's she's crying?
I really never get this "Thought you'd gone" shit - I hear it a surprising amount, clearly they are too busy paying attention to crosstraffic than what is acctually infront of them.
