Have only one set of keys for my bike.

Last time I was in this situation I had an NSR and lost the bastard, which resulted in calling out a locksmith and a £150 lighter wallet. Naturally I want to avoid this so taking the initative of getting one cut in advance, however, been to a good 3-4 DIY stores/motoring places and they said they can't do motorbike keys, without much explanation why, all suggested going to a Honda dealer to get one cut, but that sounds expensive - where do you guys get them cut?

I believe Timpsons do transponder loaded car keys, so no reason why they can't do bikes?

I had a bike key cut at Timpsons no problem. Had to buy the blank key myself though.

It was just a bog standard key though, no special HISS type gubbins in it.

Easy to do at most key cutting places, just grab a blank one from the dealership of ebay etc.

Should be cheap, all you need is a key, unlike modern cars where you need it all programmed.

Hi

Seems to depend on your local places. Timpsons have cut normal bike keys for me. Slightly unusual keys have been cut by a guy working from a small stall in the local market.

You might be able to order a key just based on the number from the local dealer. Some bike shops probably have a kit to cut a key from a number as well.

All the best

Keith

Got a Honda one from Timpsons. They had the blank already so was pretty straight forward. Assuming its a key without a transponder, they charged £10 for 1 key, £15 for 2.

Timpsons cut me 3 working keys from the snapped remains of one. Properly happy.

The first and last time I had a key cut from Timpsons I snapped it in half first go, I am heavy handed though...

Look into replacing the barrel as an option with two sets of keys, might work out cheaper...

I bought a pair of keys from here https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/mlgb1234-uk/m.html?_nkw=key&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313 then took them to my local locksmith who charged £3 to cut them

The man in the caravan outside B&Q in Workington.

I'd expect to pay around a fiver.

as you were at quatt the other day, you cant be too far from merry hill.

In merry hill shopping centre, near the asda, is a key place which isnt a shop as such, but is one of those things in the walkway rather than having a shopfront. The guy who runs that keyplace is good and cut my key and knew what blank to get. I have a feeling he may have had to order it in, but another place I tried claimed to have done this and I kept coming back for weeks before they admitted they couldnt get it.

So go to the place I mention.
