I've got my car insurance due in a couple of weeks, and I hate sorting it out!

I've heard people phoning up one company and saying so and so can do it for £500, can you beat it, and they get money off. I try it, and they say no, £900 is the best price we can do.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get the best price?

So far, Admiral have quoted me £570, which is my best quote so far, but want to get it under £500 hopefully! My renewal quote from Tesco was £770 (up £110 from last year!), but got another one though from them saying £640. Any help would be great!

I dont know about tips? but I f*cking hate all that haggling nonsense Mad .

I just phone around until I get a price I can afford.
Like you telling some companies that another company has offered insurance at a cheaper rate seems to have no effect Evil or Very Mad .

I do have great satisfaction in telling some of the jumped up silly little tele-sales twits that thier company is not getting my money because of thier attitude Smile ie they wont budge on the price!

What makes it worse for me is that I am now over 50 Shocked , so I should? be getting insurance at a dicount???... pah! fat chance of that Twisted Evil

moneysupermarket.com

I have never found anything cheaper. Even the same details on compare.com/confuse.com never get as good a price as moneysupermarket.

Unless you can be arsed looking through small adds etc.

And do haggle it may only save you £25 but still a saving.

Look to renew near end of month. Some companies have target to meet and sales folk will give away better deals.

And play one bunch of cnuts against the others too. It works.

Make sure you get apples for apples though.
A saving at first may cost you if you have to claim. How easy they are to get a hold of etc.

Good luck

So glad I tried moneysupermarket! Elephant came back with £501.83! Going to phone Tesco up and say is the £640 the best quote they've got for me. Go along the lines of being staff and what not.
