morning all, bloody windy int it ?

well i put the dr bottom end together loosely other night and all seems fine so i can now fix it together properly and have been wondering how to go about this.

there is one small o ring which is like new so il re use that.

can i use gasket sealant for the cases its the same stuff iv used on car sumps so i cannot see why it wouldnt work, obviously both mating surfaces would be shiny and clean.

the main reason i ask is im a tight get and whilst my job isnt best paid and having a young en and a missues to feed money is a tad tight and by using this sealant i have saves me forking out on a full gasket set as apposed to just a top end set.

cheers adam.

You can use an RTV sealant BUT you need to be really careful because if it gets squeezed into the inside it balls up then gums up the oil pickup.

You would normally use one like Kawabond. Or threebond 1194.

I have also used Permabond A136 which is thixotropic (stays liquid until compressed).

If there was a paper gasket there before you really should use one again or it'll screw up all the tolerances.

Another vote for threebond here or Yamabond, same stuff really.
