I'm looking to buy a new textile jacket, but first I'd like to know what brands/jackets I should avoid and which ones are good.

I'm looking to spend £50-£80 on a jacket, but I would stretch to about £120 if it would be suitable for use in the summer as well.

I quite like the duchinni vortex and the frank thomas force2 jackets. Has anyone had past experience with these before?

Coming from a guy wearing textiles...summer is not ideal textile wearing weather Laughing Regularly washing it due to excess sweat dripping everywhere. Im not kidding, I could twist the trousers and sweat ran out.

I've got a textile jacket I saw on ebay, hands down the comfiest jacket ive had. Cost £57 Thumbs Up

I've got a Weise xblade2 (bloody stupid name for a coat IMO), fairly good wind-proofing, BUT torrential rain works its way through the seams in the sleeves, maybe worse for me because of the 'sit up & beg' position on my scooter, and slow commuter riding allowing rain to pour straight down on my arms.

And yes you drown in sweat in summer. Crying or Very sad

Full Hein Gericke goretex suit with removeable linings for the winter and leather jacket and jeans for the summer months.

If wearing just the leather jacket I always take a set of waterproofs in a rucksack.

My textiles have lasted me nearly 7 years. Thumbs Up

Bought an RST Razor textile jacket a few weeks ago and love it. It is waterproof and has a removable inner layer so it can be worn in warm and cold weather. RRP is around £125, but rac3r on this forum can sort you out for a bit cheaper.

I've an RST Pro Series suit that I've been wearing since about feb. Cracking all the way through the summer, and warm in the winter (admittedly I did have a light fleece under on the very cold days).

If I was buying it again I'd just buy the cheapest RST trousers, they're not significantly different and about 30 cheaper.

Theres always tonnes of jackets on ebay, but trousers are harder to find cheap, but they're also harder to fit so better buying them in a shop.

I use an Akito Sierra and think it is excellent for 9 months of the year:

https://www.akito.com/sierra.html

It is waterproof, vented and has a removable thrmal liner. However, as others have said, you boil in Summer even with all of the vents open. Anyway it is £85

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Akito-Sierra-Premium-Jacket-Size-LARGE-/370527699860?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Clothing&hash=item56452c0394

For the other three months of the year I wear a Weise Airspin:

https://weise-clothing.co.uk/news/weise_air_spin.html

Really good ventilation, very comfortable in Summer and has removable waterproof liner. however, it is £100:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Weise-Airspin-Textile-Motorcycle-Jacket-XS-XXXL-/130390625458?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Clothing&hash=item1e5be30cb2

So appreciate that the two combined is well over your £120..but to date I have not found just one fabric jacket that will do all the year round and not drown you in sweat.
Sad

I also have found my leather jacket too hot to wear this Summer.....

I've had my frank thomas jacket a while now and I've replaced it with a furygan which is much more comfortable. The frank thomas one, the inside of it was all one piece sort of thing with there thermal liner no mesh like other jackets, so the sweat just stuck inside. I would really advise a textile jacket with that meshy lining for when out is warmer.

Also look for vents, adjustable bits eg arms, waist although that may be more a girl thing, and make sure you are comfortable in it with the thermal lining in our out. Again, with my ft one, it's not ideal as the armour sort of digs in with the liber out
