Do you think that a bike dealer who was selling the same model bike as me, but it had performance end cans on it, would sell them to me, in exchange for my standard ones, so that the bike he was selling was "more standard"

Or do dealers think the bikes would get sold quicker looking modified ?!

Just wondered whether it would be a cheaper option than trawling ebay and buying new cans, instead of testing this option out.

thoughts ?! Confused

Could always try it.

But, you could also list the fact your brakes are binding, you've had the chain adjusters snap and have spent some additional money getting your bike running right... Would they consider a trade + some cash for the cans. Although... they may say sod off as its the labour of doing it Laughing

Hi Paddy,

Didnt mean the dealer I bought my bike at. Just in general, if I came across a ZZR600 in a dealers for sale, and it had performance cans on, whether the dealer would consider say £100 plus my standard cans for the performance ones he has on the bike for sale.

This way the bike he is selling would look standard to the person who ends up wanting to buy it ?!

Surprised

Why are you asking on an internet forum when you could be asking the dealer? Call them up and ask them. The worst that'll happen is they say no.

I reckon they could be tempted.

They won't adjust the price of the bike on sale so it's pure profit other than five minutes of a mechanics time changing them over...

As with many exhaust upgrades, they've probably got the standards anyway. When I bought my CBR the Akrapovic was fitted and I had to go back in the car to get the standard one.

I've had this happen maybe three times on bike purchases.

Even from a dealer?

In my experience on trade in they prefer a standard can/system. They give you no extra money for having a performance one on there, so why would you not take it off and sell it seperately?

Yep, when I traded in my busa they actually offered me a higher trade in if I put it back to standard and I could keep the performance bits myself.

So what you're saying is that you don't have a bike in mind for this swap?

https://assets.sbnation.com/assets/562900/facepalm_medium.jpg

You made it sound like you saw a bike in a dealership with performance cans on that you specifically wanted...

So now, you have to find a bike in a dealership that matches yours. Not only that, you have to find one that has good quality noisy exhausts on, and is within a reasonable distance. Couple that with the fact that you're looking at a ZZR600 which is quite an old model, and with the fact that you'll be exchanging your perfectly decent standard exhausts for exhausts that will more than likely fail an MOT... And it sounds more than a little bit crazy!

I emailed a bike dealer who I managed to find had a ZZR6 with what looked like (from small thumbnail) to be performance exhausts on.

Just asked if they would consider small amount of cash and my originals for the ones on the ZZR6.

They came back to me this morning with following answer Surprised

Seem like a nice bunch.

Dear Julian

One of our ZZR600s has aftermarket Motad Nexus cans. These are just bog standard road cans, not performance cans so I don't think that is what you are looking for. However I am copying this mail to our spares department. They can maybe help you with a good deal on performance cans - and you can always ebay your standard cans thereafter.

Good luck ................... Paul
