Ok cleaning your LID,,

So now the summer day's are gone and i don't suppose i'll be doing much sweating in my lid, i thought it be a good idea to clean the inside for winter commuting.

Was just wondering how some of you guy's go about cleaning the inside's of your lid's, as not all part's can be removed??

Hmmm... not thought of that (still being a n00bie) but for the fabric/foam parts I would probably use one of those dry-foam cleaners?

You sure all parts can't be removed? Most modern helmets do, what is your helmet?

If you can get them out I hand washed mine before, don't know what I used as that's what mothers are for Laughing

On the rare occasion I wash my lid I remove the pads and wash them in hand wash clothes detergent - they take ages to dry so do it whenyou don't need your bike for a while.

Rest of the lid and visor gets fairy liquid on a wet tissue and a rinse under the tap.

It's a shoei z one,

The two cheek pad's come out and the front chin pad but the main dirty area that i can see is the top padding but this does not seem to want to come out.

Can i just put the cheek pads and chin pad in the washing machine?

Regularly clean my helmet innards.

On my old FM lid i used babywipes on the bits that wouldn't come out for the washing machine (40 degrees delicate).

In a bath of warm water using baby shampoo.

Leave in a well ventilated area to dry (takes ages).

Thumbs Up

Sanitising foam generously rubbed over the inside pads and then a spritz of Febreeze to make it smell nice ^^

Leave it somewhere warm and dry overnight and voila! A nice clean helmet again.
