For various reasons, I'd like to put one of these in a wall:
https://www.tmlstore.co.uk/images/telescopic_ground_anchor_200.jpg

Wall is err, brick or stone I think.

Thinking just gouging out a hole, maybe some 'channels' inside around it inside (will depend on how the hidden bit of the anchor looks of course), then filling with concrete (something over the front as it dries).

Any thoughts?

Sounds doable, if a little awkward because gravity and walls and stuff.

Also sounds like you could smash it out with a sledgehammer.

As it's a ground anchor i suspect it won't have any holes in the bottom.
I'd be tempted to drill some holes in the flanges and use some rawlbolts, then use a stiff mix and slowly build it up till flush.
Looks like your hole will have to be deep so may prove difficult to drill for the rawlbolts without some very long masonry bits (££)...So...make the hole in the wall bigger at the back than the front to create a wedge of concrete..again you won't be able to fill it in one hit..use some plywood wedged against the wall as a former.

Without either a big wedge of concrete or bolts i reckon i could pry it out of the wall with a 2m breaker bar.

Hope your wall is deep enough. Wink

[edit] before concreting wet the masonry/bricks to reduce shrinkage.

Cheers for the thoughts.

Hmm, wonder if I could add a few wall bolts going in the wall from inside instead of going for concrete.

Tatters - looking for a bit more security than a single wall bolt.

This isn't actually for bikes specifically. I could cope with a small protusion (or just chisel away so that it sits flush) but it needs to not stick out too much when not in use, but ideally be in the way when in use Smile.

The whole thing rotates around the central mount thats held in by a M20 rawlbolt so rotates when hit from all angles, i,ve got another one that l fitted first in my garage and could not remove it even with a sleage hammer had to oxy cut it in the end, its a very good desgin.

How secure does it need to be? couple of bricks out & mortar in some wastepipe to thread the chain through - probably a load less faff - but potentially less secure.

Bear in mind you can turn a brick to dust in not very long at all with an SDS drill & chisel.

Make a suitable plate to fix to the wall and weld the.

In fact. Just get a big gauge plate and weld some big gauge plate at 90degrees with holes in so you can pass the chain through. Cheaper than an anchor I would bet.

When mounted in the wall and chained closely to the bike, it would be almost impossible to prise the anchor from the wall specially when the bike is obstructing access, without the bike there would be little point in making the effort

Cheers for the thoughts, again.

It's not actually for locking bikes to; and needs to be VERY secure.
I had considered a plate directly on the wall, but that wasn't as secure as I was wanting really.

However, from this, I've progressed my thoughts about what I can do.

Knock out the wall and dig/drill some holes/foundation to bury some steel frame that the anchor is welded to. Make mold with wood then fill with concrete, finish with bricks/plaster to hide it all.

Weakest link will probably be whatever it you hook the thing up to the anchor with.

EDIT

Got bored, put something like this in your wall.
