Low sided my bike yesterday in the wet, must have hit oil or diesel because the front just washed out with no braking. Anyway, I smashed down at about 25mph onto my denim covered knee and leg which got knocked and dragged along the road.
Bit of road rash all up my leg and the aching last night was pretty bad but obviously not broken because I could just about walk on it.
Today however my knee joint is so stiff it is insane. I can't really get to a hospital or doctors without riding at the moment and the internet isn't much help. It is all red and just hurts every time I try to move it and no matter where I put it, it aches lots. Have I damaged something or is this just normal post crash aching?

I wandered around for a couple of days with a broken shoulder, still using my arm.
Didn't feel much different to another time later when I had similar but a bit worse pain, but no break that time.
Know quite a few people that have hurt hands, insisted they are fine; then found they were actually broken when they went to A&E.
So always worth getting checked out .
Also, when I went with my shoulder, I rode there, but was told I wasn't allowed to ride home, which was irksome; had to get my bike picked up by someone else. |

Should've seen their faces in the orthopaedic out patients department when I was sat there with my bike helmet and a pot on my left arm.
There was some discussion with the registrar about the dire consequences of falling off said motorcycle. I voiced the oppinion that I would still have a broken arm either way.
We then had a further discussion about the realities of travelling 45 miles to attend their clinic from a remote rural location for an 8.30am appointment then not being seen before 11am. If my appointment had been for 11am, I could have caught a bus meaning I'd have only been riding my bike for 3 miles. Our conversation revealed they only make two appointment times. 8.30am and 1.30pm (yes folks, they make everyone an 8.30 appointment and don't see some of them until 12.30 when they knock off for lunch. God bless the NHS and all who sail in her) and that if I turned up at 11am for the next one, it wouldn't be a problem.
Ironically, they were quite happy for me to drive my car home when I was in with gout, despite me being almost totally unable to move my left foot and certainly not functional enough to adequately work the clutch (used my right foot for most changes unless moving away and used my left heel for that).
Re. broken bones. As long as there aren't other complications such as compromised blood supply, you have a good 6 days to do something with a broken bone before you run into problems. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
