Hi,

I was told by my dealer when I bought the NSR (02 model) that I should get the bike initially serviced at 600 miles and then every 2.5K after that.

How important is it for a bike to have full dealer/garage Service History as opposed to doing most of the stuff myself after the initial service?

What i'm really asking is, is it as important when selling a bike to have full service history?

Yes, having a FSH shows the potential buyer that you have actually looked after bike.

IMHO FSH dont mean shit..... its easy enough to get someone to stamp the book if you service the bike yourself and if you part ex it at a dealer they will stamp all the service intervals in anyway....! a fsh history will help you if you are selling private and dont know someone who works in a garage!

my dad and i did the first service on my ped and that seemed to cause some trouble when we took it in for the second service Sad ...in the future i think i'll just take it in rather than attempting to do it myself Rolling Eyes

I agree with Andrew, FSH could translate as...

"I've dropped my bike off at the correct intervals at my local dealers expecting a professional service....where they kicked the tyres a few times, picked their bums, lost a few fixings and scratched the tank....oh and charged me an arm and a leg."
