Reading the adverts for this stuff it seems that it'll glue everything from space shuttle tiles to polar icecaps. Has anyone here tried it can give a first-hand opinion?

Why would you glue a space shuttle tile to a polar ice cap?

Just wondering Laughing

I think it's actually for gluing gorillas to either shuttle tiles or icebergs.

Used most brands of polyurethane for woodworking, pretty good stuff. Often use it over other adhesives as it has a very short clamping time.

I think you can pretty much glue anything to anything with it, providing one of the surfaces is porous.

If it will glue a porous surface to a non-porous surface logic says that it will glue two non-porous surfaces together.

Yeah, I've used it before. I managed to find the one thing it wouldn't stick together Laughing .

My grandpa uses it all the time and thinks the stuff is fantastic.

What do you have in mind with it?

I've used it to stick metal to metal (a plaque on my zippo) - my girlfriend has pinched it to repair her shoes - I highly recommend it.

Another thumbs up for the superglue version, it's surprisingly good at holding metal to metal, as it isn't as brittle as the normal stuff!

It isn't that good IMO. I got some and have used up a whole bottle. It is strong but it almost inflates and you get lots of little bubbles in it.

Not worth the hype. One good thing is that it isn't brittle.

Somebody's going to be proved wrong.

I have some.

IMO it is best for materials with a porous surface - i.e. wood, foam, fabrics, stone etc etc.

It expands as it cures and if clamped up well it forces its way into the holes in the surface of the items to be glued, makes a very strong bond with wood for example.

I tried it with two bits of plastic as a test, it did hold well but did split after I tried to sheer it by hitting one of the plastic blocks with a hammer a few times.

With a similar thing with wood the wood split and the glue wouldn't budge.

Just quoting what it sais on the back of the pots. It will bond non porous stuff to each other, but the bond will not be as good.

A lot of people say its shit because they end up with massive glue lines and a weak bond. Its basicaly expanding foam, so the two parts need to be held together properly.

The only complaint I have abou PU glue is the mess!

evostik/everbuild/wurth/sovereign all sell PU at a more sensible price last time I looked as well.
