I got smidsy'd tonight on my way home and did a superman over some twats car bonnet, after a couple of hours in a+e, a trip in an ambulance and some morphine ive been given the all clear and nothings broken and no internal bleeding, Ive got a massive bruise on my hip from hitting the handlebars and im sore all over but thats about it thankfully.

Ive got an independent witness and the twat has been reported for careless driving which is good.

poor ol rat however is KIA, forks are bent back and the wheel is almost touching the engine from what I saw before the ambulance came Sad thankfully my mate and mot man was on scene quicly and lives nearby were it happened so its in his garden now and i'll be speaking to him tomorrow about getting a repair quote for insurance at his workplace soon.

Anyone know what happens now though? I'll call insurance and give them details tomorrow but what happens assessment/repair wise? she is valued at 250 quid and needs new forks and front brake lines apparently.

am i going to have to shell out my exess when i wasnt at fault?

are they going to want there own assessor to assess it or will a repair quote at the garage do the job?

Cheers
John

p.s. obligatory paint diagram and wrecked bike pics tomorro when i can be arsed, i need sleep

Sorry to hear that, at least you didn't get deaded Thumbs Up

Shouldn't have to pay the excess, and if you do then you will get it paid back.

When I had my non fault accident I got a total back of about £600 more than what was down as what it was worth. The insurance will want to take it away and assess damage and costs themselves.

All of that goes off of my experience might go differently with others.

Sorry to hear about your off.

Don't forget to claim for your riding gear.

Sounds like it will be written off, but you could buy it back off the insurance company and repair it if you think it would be worth doing.

Anyhoe GWS and take it easy for a few days.

All I know is, I got a £400 payout from my insurance when I had a non-fault accident. The insurance company put my premiums up by £1000 the next year, when I tried to switch, the cheapest I could get was £250 more than I was already paying and I searched everywhere. For a 100% non-fault accident, aged 28.

So if you're not injured and the bike is cheap, is it worth involving insurance?

What you valued at is not the value for another company.
First off either a) "omg, look what you've done to it, everything's knackered" or b) "omg, it took me hundreds of hours to achieve that look" Razz.

And yes, it's worth getting some insurance quotes. But now it's all been recorded, it's worth considering getting some quotes with no claim but a non-fault accident still recorded - as generally they do ask about this too.

Then you are quoting wrong, I've had 11 non faults now... fully claimed on about 6 of them... have to declare them though as I've reported all of them to insurers, just some I tell them im not claiming for as its not worth it.

I can quote with or without my accidents and get the same price.

Points however... Laughing

Sorry about your accident; and also apologies for not having any useful advice on your question; just wanted to express my condolences for what you've been through.

All the best Smile

well after a morning of phonecalls direct line have phoned me, taken complete responsibility. Over the next week i will be getting: an assessment on the bike and if its not a write off it will be going to a garage of my choice for repairs, a hire bike, a replacement craft lid and leather jacket, a private medical to see how my back and neck is, physio and an offer of compensation in the future.

hopefully it wont be written off and i'll get it sorted out quickly and smoothly, i just want ratty back, iv feel devastated with her gone.

Pics and paint diagram this afternoon once ive picked her up btw

Cheers
John

A non fault claim has increased my premiums with a lot of insurance companies.

Not by a lot, usually 20-30 quid but still an increase.

GWS OP, and good luck sorting everything out with insurance.

Non fault claim generally raises my bike insurance by 200-1000 quid. (On fully comp - doesn't seem to affect TPO)

I suspect that it will almost certainly be written off. Forks, along with probably a front wheel and tyre on their own will come to way more than what they are likely to value the bike at.

All the best

Yeah I've never found adding non fault claims affects it none. a 50/50 only increased the policy on my KTM by £20.

I'm 4 years down the line from my crash, 4 years NCB, and still see a big difference in price between declaring the crash and not.

You'd like to think wouldnt you...9 were on 125s at night in winter months, 1 was car and 1 was 500cc on christmas day.

On the 125 8 of them were well over the limit, 1 was a stolen car, car was very very old people who just pulled out in front of my car, christmas day was a drunk mother taking presents to her family who reversed out of her drive and introduced me to her rear Laughing

Either way, I've had advanced riding, but im sorry im not a psychic and can judge what drunk drivers from the rear and sides can do Wink

Im going to do a quote now on something like an ER5 and see what comes up with my big claim and without.

Not that great advanced riding, because this sort of thing is exactly the sort of thing it should teach you to predict and avoid using observation and logic Wink.
(Presuming can was a typo, of course Smile.)
