Bit of a crisis - the rear wheel bearing on the Mrs.' feestie is shagged. Both are in fact, but one appallingly so (collapsed today on the motorway - had to crawl back 5 miles on the shoulder at 10mph).

Question is simple really - the bearing is seated in the drum, is it not, so if I take the drum off, then take to a garage for them to press out (providing a replacement bearing), then refit, all is good?

I'd consult the Haynes book of lies, but I don't have one for this car.

Thankyou knowledgable peeps. Thumbs Up

Well they're off. The o/s one (which was the really bad one), came out in its constituent parts - the inner half was totally fuxxored.

Hey ho, guess I'm working from home tomorrow. Laughing

I usually use the old bearing outer cases as a drift to whack the new ones in...

i know for a fact my mk3 fiesta was the type where the bit you bolt the wheel to (outer drum) was in turn bolted to the suspesion arm and came off in one unit with the bearing inside.

maybe its changed since then? Penny Coin Penny Coin

No it hasn't changed but you don't need to change the drums on a mk3 to change the bearings either you can just change the bearings. 75 quid a side for a unit or about 15 quid a side for bearings is a bit of a no brainer really unless you drums are knackered...

Fucking amazing price - cheapest I found were £27, non ABS, £45 for ABS. Thankfully mine is non.
