Hi all,

at work we have a parking area for motorbikes that is covered with diagonal yellow lines. I always assumed the lines were to let cars know not to park there. After having a moan about some dodgy parking a work mate said I should be parking in parallel with the lines as they are a parking guide.

Does that sound right? I've never heard that before and took it for a wind up at first but several people at work have backed it up.

I've done some searching on the web and can't find anything that mentions this. Anyone got any ideas on if this is true?

Cheers,
Brad.

Well... what if you bike doesnt fit in the lines Laughing
Just park in there, but be considerate to other people.

Better yet, if its at work, ask the manager. simple.

I've never heard of that. At the one car park I often use which has motorcycle bays, the lines are angled in a way that would make it nearly impossible to get a bike in and out if you tried to park in parallel.

If they are bike-width apart then yes, I'd use them as a parking guide (and would assume that's what they're for). Panting "don't park here lines" seems a bit daft as bikes will be parking there and painted lines don't stop lazy, ignorant, selfish and/or arrogant car drivers parking where they want (as is demonstrated numerous times every day where I work).
