Looks like it won't be in WSB next year
Quote:

As for racing, the Ducati 1199 Panigale will compete in the 2012 FIM Superstock Championship, and make its debut in World Superbike for 2013.

Ducati says: "The two-stage introduction enables Ducati additional development for the Superbike version of the 1199 Panigale, appropriate to the more open regulations of the World Superbike category, and in addition help control costs for World Superbike teams who can continue to compete with a 2012 version of the 1198 with technical support from Ducati Engineers."

I have a feeling Rossi will develop the bike and Ducati will return with a factory team in 2013 with possibly Rossi on board??

Depends how the GP12 goes I suspect, if it's another uncompetitive disaster then I imagine that a WSB move would be pretty feasible. All it'd need on top of that would be a Bayliss wildcard Smile

Saying that, I'm semi surprised that Dorna are not trying to push the WSB grid towards CRT rules to integrate both series tbh.

Rossi has mentioned he wants to ride superbikes at some point but as I just wrote on another forum, the future for superbikes doesn't look too good. Lack of factory teams, riders are either using it as a stepping stone or retirement spot, etc

Be interesting to see if the standard version comes in at that weight for a not too silly price. Power doesn't seem too amazing considering the 1200cc - I still want the Japs/Germans/Italians to give a 1200cc 4cylinder supersport bike a go Smile.

Lend CHR15 your GSXR, get him to fabricate mounts for the fairings. Attach to Bandit 12.

A) Well done, you've just invented the GSXR1100, but not as good.

B) I said supersport not superlardy!

Yea, because turbos make bikes handle so much better Razz.

GSXR1100s were pretty popular for turbo/drag bikes before the Busa came along.

At present the WSB ducatis have the lowest top speed.
Lower than BMW, Kawasaki. RSV4 R1 Honda.

Checa has just qualified fastest.....again.

Neil Hodgson said Troy Bayliss is testing the Panigale but wouldn't be surprised if they keep using the 1198 if it rides like a dog(or words to that effect)

Probably one of the reasons they won't enter it in WSB until 2013

Thats what they want you to think Laughing The 1199 will still be competing next year in superstock so im guessing they will use that as a testing ground for the bike to build it up. They are back with a factory team in 2013 and there could be a chance of Rossi riding depending on how GP is going.

Either that or you're right and they're in the shit Laughing

Christ Stoner got fat!

The bike looks really small. I was planning on getting one in late 2012 or early 2013 when an 's' version might have come out. But going by those pics I think it might be a bit too wee for me.
Will obviously need to test ride it first to see how it fits, I would never just buy it because it's a Ducati though.
