Can anyone tell me if my definitions are correct?

Accelerator cable: Pull

Decelerator cable: Push

Thanks.

Cables work best in tension.

Slide carbs have a slide PULLED up by the cable as you twist the twist grip, tensioned by spring under carb-cap, which also PULLS the cable back when you twist the other way.

CV carbs have a butterfly, opening throttle by being twisted on a shaft.

Same arrangement can be used; lever and spring and a single cable, cable pulling lever twisting shaft, spring pulling it back.

'pull-push' arrangement simply has two cables, and they BOTH.... 'pull' becouse thats what cables do.... only one pulls open, one pulls shut, on two levers or a pawl.

Yeah, I've bought a push cable which I assumed was the one that 'pulls' the throttle shut.

I would define the pull cable as the one that opens the throttle butterflies.

Basically the cable I've bought doesn't fit and I thought it was because I've ordered the wrong one but it turns out that the place where I got the cable from have got them wrong.

If the cable is due to be replaced (for what ever reason that may be), then it would be best to replace both.
If it's because one has snapped then even more so, as 9 times out of 10 the other will follow shortly.

Thanks Chris, you've confirmed that the listing is wrong then.

There is no push cable on the CBR. Whilst the bike still works obviously, I wasn't to comfortable with the thought of riding it everywhere with one cable.
