To me it depends on the time and the sort of pub.

Some pubs are really child friendly and some have family areas to attract families

I take my son to the pub when were out sonetimes but no later than 7 unless on holiday.. We go to Butlins in Bognor and he used to love karaoke night

You are allowed to be in control of a 1 year old child? Shocked . Christ I wouldnt trust you with a 1 year old teddy bear.

As for age in a pub, aslong as the kid is under control and being quiet then there should be no problem at any age.

I can see both sides, having had kids myself.
If I go to a pub and there is a family area, then I must expect children to be present.
If I go to a quiet pub with no childrens area, then I would like it to stay child free so I can be in adult company and not worry about the stupid things kids do, or listen to thier parents shouting at them.

Not all kids are bad but there`s a time and place for everything.
Mine would go to the beer-garden and liked to be there rather than inside.

Not everybody wants kids in the pub.

Tell the miserable old sot to take it up with the management, or summon a constable.

Although with the kind of pubs you (allegedly) frequent, I'm surprised nobody punched the kid in the throat.

If it has a garden then kids should be allowed.

I do not want to listen to crying, moaning or shouting little children inside a pub.

Why would you WANT to take a 1 year old to the pub on a Sunday afternoon? Why not do something the child enjoys rather than what you want to do.

If you want to be in charge of a 1 year old, its time to start putting them first and not yourself. Thumbs Up

Especially when they've been filled with Coke and are running around whilst their parents ignore them.

I'm still debating whether you have the mental capacity to be inside a pub.

Im not 100% anti children in pubs, but I'd say Im getting there. I love to see well behaved children, with parents who are in control and I dont mind those types in pubs. Unfortunately the type that are in pubs when Im there are screaming little fiends that need drowning, with parents that couldnt give a shit.

If kids are going in for a meal them its fine with me whatever age. If they are going in to play pool, be sick and start fighting then its not - doesn't matter about the age.

My kids are 7,10 & 13 and all enjoy eating food in pubs. Its what we expect nowadays as pubs have taken over from cafes to a large degree as the only places families can afford to eat.

If I am in a pub and other people's kids are there messing about I go to another pub...

I was in Iceland the other day, and I heard a mother asking her daughter what was best Pepsi or Coke and the kid said Coke is the best drink ever. Sick

I think it should be any parent/guardian's duty NOT to introduce any child under the age of 10 to sugar-fuelled drinks (and most especially not to chemical 'sugar alternatives'). Thumbs Up

Is 'young' a place? If not, the title makes no sense.

Did you mean "Too young for the pub?"?

[/Grammar NSDAP]

All that aside, as others before me have stated, I'm frankly amazed that someone would trust you with the care of a small child, or was the kid actually the one in charge?

Equally, if you're looking after your nephew for the day, could you really not have thought of a better destination? The local playground, for example, would surely be a better place to take a small child than a pub.

Finally, given that your ex-boss has (allegedly) put a Jihad on you*, and (allegedly) assaulted you in your local, is it really a good place to go when you have someone else's infant in your care? Or, were you perhaps hoping that you screaming out "Don't hit me, I've got a baby" would deter him from punching/slitting your throat?

* Derka derka, Mohammed Jihad.

I agree - 'Diet' drinks are like rocket-fuel for kids and should be illegal for under 18s.... If one is going to buy one's offspring a drink in a pub then it must be 'full-fat' coke or pepsi.

So, no juice (more sugar than coke), no squash (a lot have fake sugar in these days.)

What exactly is up with the 'sugar alternatives', presuming you're talking the typical low calorie sweeteners?

This is the more important factor in this post imo.

The fact your sitting in a pub, with a 1yo, instead of outside keeping said child engaged in an activity. Very selfish imo.

1yr old is too young to be sat at the bar.

Should sit in the lounge or a seating area away from the bar, if you must bring a child into a pub.

Normal ribena has a lot of sugar, but the low calorie one is pretty good.

Used to drink my squash quite strong.

Have picked up an almost empty glass of ribena, drunk it, then realised it was actually neat!
