Hi all,

For those that have a Scottoiler fitted, how do lift you bike up to remove the wheels? When my wife is about I just use a jack under the swing arm, by tilting the bike towards me, but I can't manage this alone.

Abba stands seem perfect, but I cannot justify the price tag, especially since I'd need three fitting kits.

Thanks

Chriss

Just a regular paddock stand. My Scottoiler tube goes along the top of the swingarm.

Abba stands are very, very good though. Very stable, easy to get the bike up and down on your todd.

They are pricey, but in the same way that any decent tool is.

No holes for the bobbins. Sad

My tubes run along the bottom of the swing arm and I know Abba Stands are good, but with three bikes that's an extra £40 in adaptors, assuming I buy it new and get one set free.

Not all paddock stands require bobbins. Some (usually the cheaper ones, actually) come with swingarm brackets/supports, and are pretty universal in terms of fitting for all double sided swingarms.

For example:

Aye Alex but his scotoiler tube runs along the bottom.

Personally I'd change the scotoiler plumbing and make use of paddock stand like the one Alex suggested.

cable tie front brake on.

tilt bike on sidestand and shove a piece of wood/axle stand in there to hold it up?

Axle stands are nice as you can kick them under. Had no trouble doing it single handed on the GSXR. Thumbs Up

I have a scott oiler and my tube runs along the bottom, and i have no problem getting it on a pair of normal paddock stands.

This +1 it doesn;t run the complete length of the swinger put it on the end after the oiler.

Also buy the abba stand it is brilliant, don't bother with the fitting kits buy one kit for the bike you will use it most on then see if you would actually use it without the kits on the other bikes, I have had no problems using the abba stand on bikes without a fitting kit.

I'm not sure what set up you guys have with your oilers, but I really can't just move mine. If I put the stand where the wheel is, the cups rub on the tyre.

Paddy, that's what I currently do, though I don't hold the front brake on. Problem is I can't manage to do it without a second person. Will probably just bite the bullet and buy an Abba stand.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Why cant you just use a car axle stand between the oiler and sprocket... that massive area of exposed swingarm?

How "big" are you Chriss? Im a weed and can push the gsxr with 1 hand in the air on its side stand..? Stand on the right side of the bike, full lock left, front brake in and push it away from you rather than pull it towards you.

Pop axle stand/block of wood in, done.

That said.... I managed to get the gsxr suspended in the air with no wheels on and 3 axle stands.. I must just be lucky Laughing

Well it pivots on the sidestand, it has to go a fair way for it to topple over, just make sure you arent rolling the bike forwards.. just pushing away from you. Forwards could close the sidestand and... yea... big lol.

Why don't you put the Paddock Stand further back after the oiler? Confused

like this

scottoiler is not a replacement for cleaning the chain! look at the sprocket. suprised any oil makes it to the chain.

guessing no centerstand, as that makes it easy. Rob? here has a welded stand that goes on the swingarm mount. Not sure it would work on a heavy bike but brilliant for small hondas. one day i will make one.

axle stands are not good. I dropped my cg125 like that. no way Id try it with my cbr.

Why can't you put it in front? Or does the keep the back wheel pretty much on the ground as its a bad pivot point?

If it could go there but "the chain is in the way?!" then you weave it through the chain.

When I put my bike on the paddock stand, it has to weave through the chain and the chainguide and I have to push one of the adaptors back Laughing

You should never try to lift a bike with a scottoiler - it's not what they are designed for!

Use a crane, or a jack, or three strong guys but never a scottoiler.

Loosen bolt, angle dual injector nozzle downwards, use paddock stand as normal. Job done.
