As the title suggests, I have a Motorcycle Theory Test booked for Thursday 29th. Mr. Green
Sure I'll be fine, but, secretly bricking it. Not because I'm worried about doing the test - it'll just be something out of the ordinary for me!

I've decided I don't want to be caught out by the new licensing regs, so I've vowed to get my A2 before they bring in the bull.
So, here it begins. My quest to rid the L-plates. Thumbs Up

After that I'll book my Mod 1.
Then I'll have to save my pennies again for Mod 2 - if I pass the Mod 1. Shocked

'sallright..... just a computer game.... just takes rather a lot more coins in the slot! Bugger all to do with riding a motorbike, as far as I can tell these days!

More how to get sued after getting the 100-compressions-a-minute wrong and your road-side accidentee dying. Mr. Green
I really don't get the first-aid questions. leave it to the professionals.

Oh well. L's off in no time. Thumbs Up

And, I guess less secretly now!

Good luck! As long as you've revised the theory is pretty easy. I hate the hazard perception personally but even when the "10 pointer" flagged up as ZERO for dodgy clicking on my test Shocked I still managed to pass...I was in a state of shock & very nearly caused a scene because it was BS!

I'm sure you'll be fine Thumbs Up

"What are the environmental advantages of this vehicle?"

Seriously. That's in the question bank. Not "When on a motorycle, what should you look out for when you see this symbol?" (tracks!). No, ecomentalist propaganda is waaaay more important than that. Doh!

I did mine last week and passed (second time). First time I got 50/50 for questions this bit is OK as long as youve read through highway code a couple of times. Hazard perception is the pain. I scored 43/75 and failed by one point. I clicked too many times on the first clip and scored zero!!

The best thing to do is first relax. Remember there is only 1 developing hazard in each clip except 1 clip when there is two. 14 clips in all but I'm sure you knew that already!

They dont mind if you click if you see a bus with indicator on or children playing on the side of the road etc. These are potential hazzards and could 'develop'. When you see the hazard that will become quickly obvious it is 'developing' the scoring window opens i.e. 5...4....3......2....1.....0. If you see a car quickly approaching from a side road 'click' then wait half second then click again wait half a second...by this time it will be plainly obvious the car is going to cause you to slow down or stop so click again.

If you click in the '5' window you will score 5 even if you click after this in either the 4, 3, 2, or 1 section. They will score you for the highest section you click in.

The examiner obviously has the score window bar dislpayed and not us so its guess work!! and is quite subjective especially if you have been driving a while as what is hazardous to experienced driver might not be for an inexperienced one.

The trick is not to panic and not to click at every given opportunity ie click wait click wait click wait click wait click wait, they will recognise a 'pattern'.

For example if the video has been playing for 10 seconds and your riding down a side road with lots of parked cars and you click 6 times for every potential car door opening they will probably fail that clip.

Try to use common sense.

If you have between 3 and 8 clicks approx for each clip (other than the double hazzard clip) this is probably average and they wont fail the clip for over clicking.

Hope this helps. Good Luck

PS watch out for the sheep wandering in to the road lol

Chances are I'll expire before the end via anticipation of my score. Mr. Green

Seriously? Sick

Even though chances are the power to run the tram is created by Nuclear Power, which is not only the dirtiest source of power known to man but a byproduct of which is nuclear bombs?

Nuclear power is one of the cleanest source of energy there is, what on Earth you talkin' about Willis? Do your research. Confused. A topic for another thread.

Good luck with your theory tomorrow! Thumbs Up!

Only by carbon footprint standards.
Its byproducts have to sit in an 18-foot deep pool of water for 10 years whilst they cool and loose their radioactivity. Even then they're not safe to dispose of in a natural environment, so they have to encase it in concrete.
The water is then heavily radiated and known as "heavy water", dispensed to create Nuclear Weapons. It's the opposite scale of clean. My intestines are cleaner. I did my research. Razz

By carbon footprint standards, nuclear energy is one of the most dirty types of energy if you include everything such as the building of the plant, the mining of the material, it's production, usage of the plant and eventual disposal.

However, if you only include plant and disposal, it is one of the cleanest by far as that's pretty good as it's going to remain that way whereas say a fossil fuel plant just pumps it out for all the years it is working.

As for the pools of water, yes, they do, but they are all lined SO much that the water table can't get anywhere NEAR them. Also, most of them are around 40 feet deep. You realise they are built so protected (even where the reactor is built) so that the water table has no way of being impacted by it.

Thirdly, when they are moved to dry cask storage, they are done. Those dry casks are impenetrable and you could sit one in your living room for as long as you want and you'd suffer nothing from it. We currently have Sellafield which yes, could be better but given how old the facility is it's doing pretty well, a purpose-built facility would be fantastic and reduce emissions to zero. America has Yucca Mountain which should they ever actually start storing in will have doses of <0.25mrem per year!

Heck, even if it takes them a few decades to do that or find something else we know that the casks they are store in are pretty much impenetrable and safe for decades and decades to come.

For example, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as3VQeYfd2c

Those nuclear casks sure know how to take a beating now they are sorted out!

Nuclear is good and it's definitely the future, we have enough Uranium left for centuries and there are plenty other radioactive materials that would make excellent fuels that we don't use as a matter of course as they'd require a slightly different setup but if you include those we have enough for millions of years of energy.

Also, I don't know where on Earth you get the idea that heavy water is used for nuclear weapons. Heavy water is just standard water enriched with deuterium (H2*), heck, it's even safe to drink for the most part.

May be worth making a topic about this, not quite the topic to be doing it in! Laughing!

*Yes, I know, the 2 isn't sub-script but this PC doesn't like sub-script.
