Basicly, my CG125 needs a MOT, and there are a few basic things wrong that will fail, like the High beams not working, and the rear brake whatsit, I was thinking about Riding it to the garage, with no MOT, but it is insured and Taxed, to get them to look at it and give me a price, and maybe book a MOT the same time, Now the garage is 3 miles away, and i don't see police cars very often down that way, But knowing my luck there will be a Convoy.
Will the police understand and just let me do it?, Since i am aiming towards getting a MOT, and i'm not made of money so i can't afford to fail MOT's., There might not be any police, but there's a chance there is, ANd if there is they might not catch on to me.#
Is it worth it?, Will they understand? |

Call up, explain the situation, and get them to book you in for a MOT with a verbal understanding that they're really going to be examining it. Make sure they actually write it down, job done. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

What Roger said. You're allowed to drive to an MOT station without tax or MOT as long as you've pre-arranged the booking.(clicketh) |

As I recall, you can also ride with no tax or MOT as long as you are going for a pre-arranged repair.
If the vehicle is unroadworthy though, they can still do you for this. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Phone; book MOT test.
You are legally allowed to ride without test to pre-booked MOT.
You do not 'KNOW' the bike is unroadworthy DO YOU!....
THAT is why you take it for an MOT!
You pay your £30....
Garage test it... tell you what is wrong, and give you estimate / quote for rectification.
Normally if you leave bike with them for repair they re-test for free, and ONLY the faults they have repaired.
If quote is too high; and you decide to bring bike back home to fix DIY, then unless MOT man has endorsed fail ticket 'MUST NOT BE RIDDEN ON ROAD' and filled out section as to why it is unsafe to do so; you can also ride it home again, 'legally'.
Whether a re-test fee is chargeable, often up to descretion of the test station; some do; some dont.
But worst case you have full re-test fee, becouse they dont and or takes longer to fix than anticipated.
MEANWHILE provided you have pre-booked test, stating registration number, YOU ARE LEGAL to ride it there.
Just a matter of symantics; your taking it for test FIRST, and awaiting fail result, rather than for a quote for repairs, with idea you MAY book an MOT if it dont cost to much!
All in the order of the wording! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
