Still annoyed I lost all my typing!

The pillion ride was INSANE. The thing that shocked me the most was the speed at which he braked! He's full throttle, to full braking before you can even blink. And the braking was so late. On the 2nd straight, I hit around 135/140 and brake around the 200ft mark, he was still full throttle at 100ft.... absolutely mind blowing, even with the handles on the tank I could barely support my weight under braking. I think I got the best pillion ride, I was one of 5 out of 100 that got picked to go on them, Cal took some, as did Jamie Witham. Cal was on the road R1 and Jamie on a new speed triple. I think I got the best deal, Cal was wheelying everywhere, apparently Scott was the only one really going for it.

What an experience, opened my eyes to a whole new level of riding!

After the pillion ride I had my 3rd track session, was going really well, braking alot harder, until after one corner my brake lever came alot futher back than normal, so I backed off, and after the next corner pulled off the track... only to find my lever came all the way back to the handlebar and did absolutely nothing. Also, being a RSV, the back brake is useless, it's so useless I never use it.... and that doesn't work atall either. So I was on the concrete trying to slow down the old fashioned way... by dragging my feet.... then I was on the grass... and slowing down WAY to slowly.... I aimed head first for the barrier and hit it about 15mph... hurt a bit... but otherwise fine. Bike got picked up and taken back to the paddock, and was working fine again...

I've never had brake fade before... and wasn't aware it could happen this quickly and suddenly.... I'll definately be getting it all checked out before getting back on! Unsuprisingly I didn't go back out on track, as the thought of having no brakes going into a corner at 130 doesn't appeal!

You on the back with a motogp racer...and able to follow them. Seriously. jeffed-off. and you had pit babes.... it gets worse.

In regards to the brakes, anyone know what could have caused it? I didn't realise brake fade could happen so quickly... Did the fluid boil? Or is it likely to be another problem?

The older the brake fluid gets, the more water it absorbs, If the brakes are then used enthusiastically the water boils causing the lack of lever pressure,
Fade on the other hand (IMO) is when the pads get that hot they glaze over and the stopping power disappears ! not the pressure.

There was no slappage or anything similar. The next corner the lever came back further than normal, then next corner it came back alll the way and did absolutely nothing...

I didn't try pumping it... Was busy panicking.

Once the bike was trailered back to the paddock they were fine again... Strange. I too didn't think brakes could fade or the fluid could boil so quickly. Especially as this was the session just after a 2 hour lunch so it wasn't particularly hot!
