Found this on eBay.

Said to be fully functioning and comes with all the bits. Would make a nice shifter cart engine I would think.

It's a DT 125 LC engine, with carb etc.

If I had the dollar I would take it and build a kart. Would like to do it within the next few years, just thought someone who was thinking about it now might like it.

As long as you can find/fabricate a way of mounting it to the chassis most anything will do as a kart engine.

Although, as DT125s are only around 15bhp you will find that kart slowwwwwwww as heck, for example Senior Max runs at 28bhp and that's direct drive so has no gears.

'True' geared karts such as KZ, 125cc Superkarts and such will be pushing 50-55bhp with their motors.

Yes, you aren't 'racing' and such but I think you'll be sorely dissapointed using an engine that only has a fraction more power than the Junior Max engine which is 13-16 year olds and then you've got the hassle of gears too.

If I were you I'd just go for a bigger motor (CR250 or similar, at least that has some oomph) or save up and buy a full second hand kart including engine, you can find them around for £500-£1000 as people always go:

"Hey yeah, I want to start karting!"

They do a few practice days, maybe a race or two and realise two things:

A) They are SLOW.
B) Their chassis/engine is SLOW.

Slow in comparison to racing standards anyway, you won't win kart races without rebuilds a few times a year (engine) and a chassis each time it bends and when they realise that their Dads make them pack it in so they sell off their gear cheap.

Been where you are before I raced and the amount of people we've seen try doing what you are doing and give up after wasted money to buy a second hand kart is unbelievable.

Bear in mind the cost of karting recreationally too, a day on a kart track which is almost always a Friday/Saturday will be £40 or so depending on the track, then you have tyres, decent tyres will be ice after a few days which are around £100-£150 a set and any damages are very expensive, even minor ones such as snapped stub axles/bent track rods which happen almost every time you take a front end impact.

My two pennies, I really do hope you get into it as it is fantastic fun but other ways are certainly better getting into recreational karting than others.

I wasn't on about racing it, and I won't be. Just a fuckabout, something to build and maybe take it round the go kart track just by mine one day.

It was just a thought Laughing

Ha I had one just like that, the rear brake was a technological marvel! You could enter it into the same racing series as the jet kart, whoever dies first wins Thumbs Up Laughing .

Better PM paulington first though, I'm sure someone said that he raced karts.

Rolling Eyes Laughing

I love BCF Mr. Green

I reckon a 110cc pit engine, or a 140 in that frame would make for exciting days down the park in the mud/snow. RWD 11-16hp speedwagon
