 |
|
Does anyone else feel really happy and relaxed when going for a random ride to nowhere?
Went out yesterday, riding into the evening, not too warm not too cold, and i just felt happy. Probably the happiest/calmest i have been in a long while, that probably sounds a bit sad...
Anyway took this pic off my phone yesterday after my gf text me saying 'have you seen the sunset?', me being a guy didnt even notice until i got that text. Pretty naff quality off my phone but meh.

When, with no where to be, but where you are; you stop for a fag, and ponder, simply being..........
(though I would probably be rather slightly LESS happy having a question mark hanging over the lack of tread on my back tyre?!!?) |
Well Mike, i have decided to keep the rear tyre until it looks like this:
https://i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt134/Kurt_V/met_slick_r.jpg
After all, what is the worst that could happen? Best case scenario is i can save my brake pads by never braking before a corner because my rear tyre will have so much grip
In all seriousness ive got my local guy in Lutterworth who fit the front one to order a Pirelli City Demon, fitting tomorrow all in for £83, very cheapest i can find, and i rang about 15 places.
I did what you said and rang wheel house to ask about the M45 and they said they dont do it in that size anymore, so i just got the cheapest, but brand named tyre i could find. |

LOL.... but if you look, even a slick has wear indicators!
I presume, to get your tyre looking like that, though you have been riding everywhere dragging the footpegs, avoidiing going in a straight line, or 'hanging off' so the bike's leaning, when you do go straight, to scrub off the, till now, completely unused tread at the edges and get the shape back ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Lol true, annoying how the tread wears in that fashion, but at least its only one of very few drawbacks of owning a cruiser |

For me it depends on what bike you are riding..
V Strom 1000, GS 1150.. all regarded as great bikes but so so boring..yyyyyaaawwwn
Now then on my Gixxer 1000, Honda Blackbird, Kwak 636.. huge fun and a bloody great grin on my chops when I got back home..
Great piccy by the way.. ____________________ Honda Blackbird the great all rounder.

This is my last week on the Hornet and today was probably the last time I'll use it to go to work.
I filtered home, the long way. The traffic was particularly bad and I deliberately sought out the worst of it and carved it up.
Then thrashed it up and down the bypass. Twice.

Even this geriatric old git went for a "going where it takes me" bike ride today. Generally along the Wirral and around Helsby/ Delamere it was ie about 90 miles round trip. For me that is a lot. Nice.
I would be tempted again tomorrow but the Mrs and I are booked for lunch - and SHE wants to go in the CAR ('cos the bike will spoil her hair-do). Nevermind - Friday maybe

When I first started riding just going to the roundabout and back was an adventure
I love bimble-ing around by myself, working out what roads go where
I am lucky enough to live near Cheddar. The views and general scenery around there never fail to give me a major feel-good factor.
Love It!! |

Sometimes it's nice just knowing you could get on and go...The bikes have full tanks...the shed doors open and i've cleaned my visor....but decide to sit in the sun and crack a cool one(or in my case a cuppa tea)
I usually do the see where this road leads thing...mostly crap if i'm honest. Must start planning destinations...seem to enjoy/remember the rides better.
