There's some info on rebuilding with a replacement frame here:
https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/RegisteringAVehicle/Registeringakitcarrebuildorradicallyalteredvehicle/DG_191069

Motorbikes built from a mix of new or used parts

If you wish to keep the original registration number of your motorcycle, you will need to use an unmodified frame (original or new). You will also need two other major components from the original vehicle.

These can be any of the following:
•forks
•wheels
•engine
•gear box

If a second-hand frame is used the vehicle must pass Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval (MSVA). If the motorcycle passes a 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated. If the motorcycle fails, it cannot be registered.

Are the 954 and 929 frames entirely the same? I know they look the same...

Hi

I suspect that you won't be able to keep the original plate from the cat b bike, because it is cat b.

All the best

You can't use any structural parts of a Cat B bike, surely that includes the forks, and the engine if it's a stressed member?

The unregistered frame doesn't have a number plate. Hence it's unregistered.

You may be able to get an age related plate as a possibility.
