1989 FZ750 started squeaking really bad, even when I was wheeling it out of the garage. Sounds like its coming from the swing arm/shocker area.

I've just taken the shocker right off, swingarm bolt out. Copper greased everything and its still there. Actually sounds like its the shock absorber spring itself but I'm not really sure that can squeak.

Any suggestions ?

Stu

Swingarm pivot bearings or associated linkage...

I thought I'd be able to grease those by removing the swingarm bolt and regreasing it ? But perhaps not and I need to take the swingarm right off.

Have you ever heard of the shock absorber itself squeaking ?

Usually, by the time they start squeaking they are goosed and need replacing rather than greasing.

Having said that, once greased they usually never need doing again, shame the factory don't bother in the first place.

Yes, had it on an old car I had, drove me mad until I found it, shocks were only a few quid for the car though.
