Fuel tank laws?

Right, so I'm picking up 2 old Tomos A3M mopeds tomorrow... And just for luls I'm tempted to make brackets and fit 2x20Litre jerry cans, one either side of the luggage rack, almost like panniers.
Drill the bottom corners and fit fuel taps that all join to the main fuel line with T-Piece connectors...

Thing is, Where do I stand legally with this? As I cant see anything law wise that says I cannot do this...

Anyone more clued up about this than I am?

I`m guessing that as they are not specific Bike fuel tanks VOSA (tossa`s) may have something to say about that?

x2 20L fuel tanks on a Tomos? where do you plan to go... Peru?

I agree ,.... big bikes are to easy..... point, squirt and your there!

I like the challenge of a smaller bike, that said a Tomos might be just a bit to small

I need to think of a way to expand the fuel capacity of the C90. Found out that it might be frugal, but won't run on thin air!

(Not that I'm idly thinking of doing an RTW on it!)

With your track record; I think strapping two spare engines to the luggage rack would improve your range more than a couple of jerry-cans.......

Snip a credit card holder out of a wallet; superglue to back of seat.... insert AA card.....

Tripple Whammy:-

1: range is instantly doubled..... recovery takes you back home from where ever you have conked out

2; mpg doubles

3: you get home faster than you got to break-down point!

the biggest regret i have is selling my Puch maxi. I loved that bike. Everyone laughed but that was what made it so much better! I always planned on keeping it for a few years then tuning the shit out of it. I kid you not. 60mph on 1 inch tyres would be insane! Small bikes FTW!

Wherever it was, it'd take a while to get there, but that would be half of the fun.

Although an extra 40 litres of fuel would weigh another 29 kilos. Might play havoc with your acceleration somewhat

I've seen a sign at my local that says no more than 2 5 Litre jerry cans.

But then again, it is just a sign you might be lucky at different petrol stations.

I doubt they'd worry about that, but might get a bit confused when someone on a moped rings up 60 quids worth of fuel
