Picked up the new bike yesterday

Picked up the new bike yesterday, so far i've put about 80 miles on it. Obviously still running the engine in and bedding in the tyres but so far i'm quite impressed.

Took it around some roads I liked, then took the other half on the back and couldn't really notice the difference too much, on the 600RR it's very obvious.

I'm liking the lazy riding and the amount of torque which is really why I bought it, as a lazy two up/commuter bike that will do some touring reasonably well.

Only issue i've got so far is it's a bit easy to go quickly, on the RR you get noise and revs, on this it just pulls.

I was getting a different end-can on but they didn't get the linkpipe delivered so it'll be back next week to get that done.

How is it though? I've never had any luggage etc attached to a bike.

Looking to go touring france and spain next year... so obviously looking for a bike thats capable AND has luggage, probably wouldnt go to a 1250 Bandit But I wouldnt mind a VFR750/800 or something enduro based.

It seems fine, on the way riding home i was quite nervous because i couldn't see any of it in the mirrors and didn't really notice it was there.

It's a good bike, as you say though it is a Bandit, but I put that aside, gave it a go and it fits what I want to do. A VFR would work nicely though.

The biggest surprise to me was that a bike i'd not been on long felt no different with my other half on the back. On the RR it's extremely obvious because the bike handles differently, but this was the same.

I found it handy a bit ago as I could go to the post office, collect a parcel and get a loaf and some mik without taking a rucksack out.

Its not the "Bandit" that puts me off..

Its just the fact its 1250cc.. If im touring, I dont really want to have to pay for petrol beyond what I really need to.. 1.25litre must drink somewhat more than something half its size

Still, bloody tidy...aside from that exhaust I really like it. Also you are fairly close to me, if I see that bike flying around i'll do the typical bcf wave

Yeah that's true. They reckon it'll do 180-190 miles on a tank which isn't amazing, not terrible, but not amazing.

Yeah I dont really like the exhaust either, it's just too damn big, and it's almost silent. I've got a Viper exhaust going on, it should have been on at pickup but the linkpipe didn't turn up with it. It's a carbon fibre one so should look more like the general colour of the bike.

I'll look forward to the BCF wave lol

19 Litres apparantly, they reckon it'll do 45mpg depending on riding. It seems to bimble along at very low revs so this maybe possible. I'll know once i've done a bit more riding though.

Well done about 500 miles on it now, really really liking it. Surprisingly easy to ride - easier to go quick on than the 600rr for sure.

Good big old plodder thats good with luggage on, good with a pillion on and generally does what it's needed to do. So far noticed the fuel gauge is shite. I'm still trying to get used to when it's empty, it warns in two stages and i think the first warning is a bit too soon, but because it's flashing it's in your head, and the last one comes on when you have 1 litre left which is a bit useless. I'm going to start logging how much I get out of a tank/how much i put in and work out what i can get the old fashioned way.

Biggest bit of oddness i've had so far was when i jumped back on the 600rr, it felt like it'd been swapped for a cbr125! So so little, but felt i could throw it round corners and thottle out like a hooligan, so still fun.

Managed 120mph on a private road with all luggage on and handling was fine and it was still pulling, i'm trying to be reasonably to the engine at the moment. I dont run things in softly but i'm not overly aggressive either. I'm kinda between the manufacturers guide and that guy that says rev the tits off it.

Anyway, cool story bro etc blah blah.. I'm happy

Best mate had one for 18 months! and has really enjoyed it and had no issues. I had a go and within 5 miles had the fairing scraping on the floor... Ooops.
