Arrow Buy a topbox and leave it in that.

Arrow Lock it by other means to your bike.

Arrow Buy some kind of bag that makes it easier to carry.

That's about it really.

You get used to it. I find it's a handy shopping basket when I go to Tesco on my lunch break.

There's no magic answer really, just what Bendy said.

I got this, great job. Has a laptop cover, and a spare visor cover/holder as well as the lid holder. Nice and secure strapping and shape means you don't notice it on your back when on the bike. I'd def recommend one.

Gotta say, I don't get fed up of lugging it around -

a. Makes useful storage for shopping.
b. Stuff your gloves into it when walking to/from bike
c. Ideal for clocking thieves if they try to pinch your ride.

Nearly everyone over here in India locks their helmets to the bike using a fixed lock attached to the tail.

Not seen em in the UK I can't find the exact one that's popular but something similar:

https://lockitt.com/accessories_helmet_holders.htm

Guess the problem is if someone does get away with it you're screwed (no helmet laws over here). Also it could get damaged as someone makes an attempt to nick it.

Bit of chain or a bicycle lock, feed it through the visor, lock it to something solid on your bike. I perch mine up on a mirror to keep it upright and dry. Anyone who seriously wants it will have it, but the same applies to the bike.

Some bikes do have helmet holders, usually a hook of some sort under the seat that lets you lock the seat over the strap.

Trouble is they often mean your lid is dangling off the side, which can be impractical in tight parking. Hence a cycle lock or something can be better as you can put the lid where there's room. I used to just sit mine on the back seat, locked to the grabrail (when I had a grabrail).

Yeah even after two years of riding every day as my sole method of transport, I still find it irritating.

When I got a courtesy scooter with under-seat helmet storage I have to say that was really cool.

Unless you live in a really rough area i think thats a bit ott.

When im out shopping i wrap a barrel cable lock around the rear suspension and then feed it through the helmet and lock it that way. The helmet is left on the seat, seems fine imo.

I have got the Caberg helmet bag that cost me £20 it's great to wear however feels too bulky on my back. So decided carry it around with me and put my books in the helmet bag.

I sometimes leave my helmet in my top box, but feel even stupider walking around shops in a leather jacket and boots without a helmet

I remember doing my test and the Instructors saying "its a helmet, don't use it as a shopping basket or store your gloves in it etc"

some crap about stretching the straps and stuff

I thought at the time, like anyone is going to pay any attention to that!

When I use it as a basket I hold it by the chin bar anyway, don't want it swinging about by the strap. A sandwich and packet of walkers is unlikely to do much damage, I reckon Very Happy

So all someone has to do is push your lid off and let it hit your bike/chuck fizzy drink in your lid..

There is a guy who parks next to me at home... ped, bicycle stretchy lock through back wheel and through lid...

Not being funny, but the lid is on the floor that tramps/pissheads piss over...its DEFINITELY not clean Laughing and its a really nice Arai..

Did leave a note saying to him if he buzzes my flat i'll pop it inside my door, someone is there 24/7 anyway... Rolling Eyes

I usually just carry mine and as other, I use it to carry stuff. If I have no need to carry anything I pop one of the pillion pegs down, and perch it on there secured with a bike lock.

I find lugging a leather jacket around on a warm day twice as annoying.

I have the KNOX bag that's pictured above, also. Very good bag, holds the helmet well and occasionally makes you forget you have it on there!

When im at college (on my moped) i usually stuff my jacket and gloves under the seat, then loop a stretchy bike chain through the chinbar and round the front wheel.
it's in a designated bike shelter (that doesnt work very well) so no ones can kick it unless they are deliberately trying to, or trying to unlock their moped.

It has got a bar under the pillion seat i could fasten it to, but the genius' at yamaha decided to put it a few inches away from the exhaust.. Laughing
