I just bought an item on ebay. It was a buy it now and I committed to the sale, but haven't paid yet because of some issues with my card. Before I had time to fix it the seller said he's coming through Loughborough on Sunday and could give it to me in hand for cash if I'd like.
This would be perfect for me, but how do I handle the sale commitment later? Can we cancel it with no problems or could he potentially deny having sold it for cash and try and hustle me later?

Am just a bit paranoid about these things Confused

You can both either cancel the transaction, or both go through with the sale. You just have to click payment sent on your ebay screen after you've paid him.

If it's a trader he's highly unlikely to stitch you up.

If you're really worried about it get a receipt.

Yes.

He gives you item, you give him cash.

Same way you deal with vehicle sales which are almost always cash only.

You both mutually mark the transaction as completed and its done. Its usually the seller that gets fucked over in disputes anyway.

If you REALLY think its going to be a problem then get a receipt.

Not much he could do - but get a written receipt anyway.
