Hey, i have experienced a problem finding a good cheap insurance for my Ns125r 89 model the problem is that whenever i go on a bike insurance website and i try to get a quote it wont let me choose my bike this is a little bit confusing so bear with me the problem is that if i choose honda and then the model NS and year of manufacture i put 1989 on most of them it only pops up with honda ns400 and honda ns125f but it doesnt pop up with my actual bike but when i choose year of manufacture 1991-93 it finds the bike this is quiet confusing and i dont know whats going on i can get a quote with some insurers but some dont have the bike on the system i think.
What im asking here if you guys know any good and cheap insurance website so i can insure my ns125r for as cheap as possible??
Regards
Adie : )

Hi

It should appear really. From memory they came out in the UK at the end of 1987 (the F came out a couple of years earlier).

Is the model that shows up for 1991~93 the NSR125R instead?

All the best

Keith

Make sure you are not mixing up your bike with the nsr125. The ns125r and the nsr125 are different bikes.

Can't see why you're having trouble. Iirc, when i had mine i just put the details into confused.com and got loads of quotes.

Can you not just put in the reg and go with what comes up? You could always get some quotes and phone the company for a more tailored quote.

I've always had this problem, so mark mine down as a 91.

NS125F's were from '87, R's from '90 but insurance databases don't have this option.
You get either '~89>F, or '90>NS125R/NSR125.

I've rung them before too, been advised to put down the nearest relevant year rather than different model becase you're not insured for the right bike, or get the value for such if the worst happens.

Considering how hard insurance companies try to get out of paying claims I would be very wary of giving them incorrect info on the actual application (OK for comparing quotes but not on the actual application).

A Salesman may well advise you to be creative but remember, the person selling you the policy is not the person responsible for OKing a payout.

One of my bikes never comes up on the web based quotes but If I ring them most will offer a quote based on the type of bike and it's value rather than the actual model. (And you usually get a better quote than on-line).

1. Record the call.
2. Check the paperwork when it arrives.
3. Have the financial osbudsman on speeddial, and don't be afraid to threaten to use it Laughing
4. Be prepared to write a letter IF they call your bluff, following the complaints procedure for the company (this must be done before the osbudsman will look at your case - it's all explained in your policy booklet anyway).

Faffy? Perhaps. But you'll never lose.

Actually, with distance selling regulations he as good as is.

He is an embassador of the insurance company and enters into a verbal contract with you for them, and in taking his advice it strikes agreement that the discrepancy was created, and would be covered by them.

They have to keep records of calls for maybe a minimum of 3 years, some palces I've worked done it for 5.
As long as you tell the phone on the phone the fact that the v5 says 1990 or whatever, and they give a solution like putting a years later date of reg then you proceed after OKing it, all is fine.
