I restore (cleaned, new piston, rebore barrel, clean the friction plates) the engine of an old suzuki a100 bike and yesterday i tried to fire it up.

1st Issue:
With the choke open the bike fires for 1 sec and then shuts off. With choke close nothing happens. After many kicks the bike fired with the choke closed and was running idle for some minutes. Then i try to open little the gas and the bike take too much revvs with it self (with just a touch on the petrol) and very slowing coming down to normal (very very slowly). I shut the bike off and i try to fire it up again with no success.

2nd Issue:
The clutch is not working. The gears works fine. I adjust the cable on the max position but doesn't fixed my problem. I adjust the clutch springs (6 of them on the clutch basket) to be hard.

Sorry for my english, Any ideas?
Very much sounds like the points/timing are way out.The carb mixtures may be too.The clutch issue maybe because you have not assembled the cluth operating lever inside the case.

You could try heating up the plug then starting it without choke and see if its any better,if it is then the carb needs adjusting.Points are usually neglected on older small 2 strokes due to the lack of accessability through the flywheel cover.
oo thank you

According the clutch it seems that the problem is somewhere else because when i am pressing the clutch lever and at the same time pushing the sprocket with my shoe, the sprocket stops. The problem is that the clutch adjustment is on full.

According the carb issues i think that you are right and that the problem is my points adjustment because i disassembled the points and the stator and i assembled them with no adjustment. How to adjust them ? It is a Suzuki A100 1979. At the beginning i had no spark at all and then i adjust a little the points and then spark appeared but as you said it seems that the adjustment is not correct.

thank you for the reply but i can see how to set the points. There are two adjusting on my stator. one which hold the stator plate with 3 screws and another one which holds the points. which one i have to adjust first and how? If possible step by step. I read on the web that the F and T markings is the solution to my problem but i didn't found a solution yet.

The poor starting and revving sounds like you are running very lean, almost too lean to even run at all.
This is a disc-valve engine as I recall with the carb in the side of the engine. Make sure that the carb is sealed tight onto the mount as if it leaks air at the mount it will cause the fault you describe.

the F and T marks are used for the timing,if my brain damaged memory is correct then the T mark is for when the points open when the engine is'nt running, sometimes called static timing and the F mark is for when you rev the engine a bit and check the timing with a timing light.

because these oldy bikes use points they also use mechanical advance/retard units which are little spring tensioned weights that move the timing cam when the engine runs, some small two strokes dont use an advance retard mechnaisims

T is top dead center, F is the static timing mark (when the points should open).
