I don't know anyone that doesn't fasten their helmet up before riding. They have made a solution for something that wasn't even a problem.

i forget to fasten it quite alot. only notice when i accelerate up to 70 and it starts flailing about Laughing . then i just let go of the bars and do it up on the fly. couldnt be doin with all that double D ring mallarky though, quick release FTW

I'd thought of posting something similar, Brembo specialize in making brakes, therefore their helmets will be inferior!

Somehow I doubt that they make them. My guess is that they're just adorned with the Brembo logo.

Isn't that the same for most things new and different?

It wasn't so long ago that double D's were the only option and the seatbelt type fastener was a gimmick; now, almost every helmet maker offers seatbelt fixings, some don't offer anything else.

Having said that, I can't see this system becoming an industry standard, although I quite like the idea and I might consider buying a helmet with AFB, but not the Brembo effort, it looks bloody hideous Shocked

They're not too pretty but I would certainly like to try one. The field of vision looks huge which is always going to help any rider in a busy environment.

I doubt it. WebBikeWorld like it, but note that it's been on-again-off-again since 2004.

Took me ages to even find a price for it: £249, rising to £299 at the end of October 2011, and I still can't see how to buy one without finding Big Bill, who lives down the lane behind the sewage works, turn left at the sign saying "Beware of the owls".

I've been hunting for one for the past twenty minutes, checking all of the supplier links. One of them stated the reason why we've not yet seen them on our roads....'Please note these are not for road use. '

Oh well. i wonder it they'll ever get certification? Maybe it's the same story with the Brembo??

I suppose it makes you want one even more!?

Turns out they're made by NewMax, an Italian outfit who seem to specialise in making high end scooter lids, branded for companies like Moschino, Pininfarina and Ferrari.

Apparently, they've been available here for over a year and they cost around £300, which seems like a lot.

As an aside, NewMax also appear to own the Cromwell name, which older members will remember as being a long standing British maker of helmets.

i have a sales man was at the knot end bike meet letting people try them on a few weeks ago tbh they need more development the vision range in the back is a bit too narrow very strange feeling being able to see behind you like that. the helmet itself was comfy and well made and i would ride with one quite happily Razz

these brembo jobbies im not arsed what a lid looks like its there for protection and functionality nothing else in my book .hmmmmmm i dunno if i would trust them tbh i mean what if the spring that works the ratchet failed in a crash Shocked

The reviews I have read echo your impression of the comfort. Supposedly it's very, very quiet too.

WRT to narrow vision range and strange feeling of seeing behind, most testers have said it takes less than an hour to get used to it.

I wonder if they will ever catch on? Are they gimmick or do they serve a real purpose, safetywise??

Honestly, i'd love to give one a try. Cool

Ha, the Reevu site claims they're ECE 22.05 certified. I've noted this problem before - how would you verify it? To be legal to wear or sell, they just have to have an ECE 22.05 (or BSI equivalent) mark on them. How many people would bother to check, and how would they go about it?

I imagine that translates to:

"Once we find out that we can't recover our investment just by selling in Europe, we'll have a go at passing the Snell test, so we can try and crack the US market".

I'm intrigued to see how it works, especially when the video link on the website reckons that the rearward view isn't obstructed by a pillion.

If it's as good as they say it is, they should move to a different market, because it seems they've worked out how to defy the laws of physics Confused
