I made my first post on BCF with my acqusition of a Kawasaki GPX 250 in July this year.
It was a great little bike which got me back into riding again.
The pictures I posted on the thread spoke for themselves.
It was a very clean, low-mileage, cheap-to-run sports tourer styled 250 and I enjoyed every moment I spent riding it........except for..........
Well ok, I very quickly realised it was just too small and underpowered for my needs. When I decided after a 12 year break from bikes that I wanted to get back on the road again, I had a bike in mind.
I had always wanted a Kawasaki ZZR 600 and a couple of weeks ago, the right bike turned up for me.
It was average mileage for its age, good condition for its age and most importantly, the right price for its age.
The bike is a 2001 model, registered on a 'Y' plate.

I have already managed a few hundred miles since buying it a couple of weeks ago and it has definitely lived up to my expectations so far.
The only real negative (and I was fully aware of this when I began looking at ZZR's) is the TOTALLY SHITE brakes.
Yes, they really are as appalling as they are claimed to be!
Still, once I have saved a few more pennies, I shall attempt to procure a pair of Fireblade Nissin calipers for the necessary conversion.

My only real regret is that i was unable to find a suitable bike earlier in the year, when there was just a little bit of good weather for riding.
Never mind....I am sure next summer will be glorious and hot Laughing

Lovely bike! I had a ZZR1100 a while back, againm great bike but drank petrol like chav drinks white lightening!

Brakes weren't too bad on the 1100, perhaps that could be a possible retrofit?

enjoy the last few hours of autumn, winter is a comin'

Cheers Bencav,
I did seriously consider an 1100 but decided against as i felt it was a little OTT for my needs at the moment.
Unfortunately, the 1100 calipers wont fit the 600, but there are plenty of Nissins from 'blades available. I may have a crack at sorting the standard calipers first though, as they are in perfect condition and would definitely benefit from a decent set of braided hoses. I found some useful tips on bleeding them properly too, so will have a go at them over the coming weeks.
