good morning all from rainy leeds.

i have an sv 650 old curvy carbed model which i got a few months ago and has been great and when i got it i was told it had just had a new clutch but never asked exactly what was replaced.

anyhow there were no reciepts for this but he said it hadnt been ridden since the clutch was done and looking through the sight glass showed new unused oil so kinda took his word.

well a few months on im getting pretty bad clutch slip so i changed the iol hoping it could be that simple but still the same iv also adjusted the clutch cable so that its fully disengaged when lever is about halfway out if tried all sorts.

it doesnt do it all the time sometimes when engine is hot and oil is thin sometimes when engine is cold and iol is abit thicker if that makes sense.

whats the next plan take clutch out and inspect it for worn friction plates and replace the clutch springs and maybe go over the steel plates with 1200 paper to take the glaze off.

I would think twice before rubbing down the friction plates.
It is worth checking the torque of the clutch plate bolts, as they were maybe just hand tightened any old way.
They should be tightened to a specific torque, tightening them up evenly, by hand until they all have a little pressure, then torque them up.
Hope this works for you.
