Please don't invent this. They'll start making us buy tickets everywhere! Sad

What a bloody stupid idea.

Create a product that has zero demand.

Bikes don't pay in pay and display car parks, we are lucky enough to get free parking in most places outside of london

If you want responses, make it downloadable. I'd be happy to complete it, but you might not like the answers.

Jennie

Hate to burst your bubble but there is no call for your product among Motorcyclists just among those who issue tickets.
At the moment most parking is free to bikes but when I have to buy a ticket I simply take a photo of it on the bike for when it is stolen.

I have such a device already.......

Its a A5 plastic pouch taped to the inside of my screen Thumbs Up

As to P&D car parks... If I have to pay then the ticket goes with me and a msg is left in the pouch Karma

Hmm, a product making paying for something that is usually free easier such that it would no longer be free isn't going to sell very well.

Make bikes coated with teflon so that pakring tickets are impossible to attach, that might go down better Thumbs Up .

NCP (well the one I use anyway) do require you to pay and display but you get a receipt along with your ticket and the carpark is indoors so there's no problem with tickets getting wet or blowing away. Most folk just clip it under the flap on their petrol tank lock. Since you ride past the booth to park and then walk past it twice in the process of getting your ticket, I think they keep a decent handle on who has paid and who hasn't.

Equally when I found myself in a p&d at a travelodge, they kept the tickets at reception for you, and the parking wardens knew this.

It really isn't a problem we want solving - as above there are ways round it where necessary but none of us want it made any easier.

Surely its all going to move to paying by text and being identified by numberplate anyway, over time.

Much as I dislike people using most of those online survey sites because they look so cheap and amateurish - it's still one step ahead of asking people to email you.
A while ago someone offered money for every survey completed. They got quite a lot of responses, oddly enough Smile.

Yes but this is about an invention to help all us bikers and as such should contribute freely

Maybe I should go to my local uni (it's got a massive arts bit) and put up a poster saying "Product design students: Please don't try to solve motorcyclists problems. Thanks in Advance. Motorcyclists"? Wink

As for Jennie, go design some new tyre tread designs.

Sorry have to agree its an answer looking for a problem.

They are shifting away from Pay & Display parking tarrifs anyway to 'Pay on Exit' tickets you take with you; or they are installing machines you enter vehicle index into.

10/10 for finding a 'problem' to apply some engineering to; unfortunately, problem analysis has gone a bit awry, in identifying WHO this is a problem to!

Years ago, working a night shift as a computer operator, a toothless hag wandered in to the office with a bit of rag and announced "anyfing need polishin'?"

It's deja vu, except there's a felt-tip fairy wandering in asking "anyfing need designin'?"

Using mobile phones for it seems to be quite common too.
