NSR 125 Electrical problem

just bought a nsr 125 2000 as a project but im having a few problems, the guy was obviously lieing to me when i bought it but oh well, so far ive fitted a new ht lead, and plug, just to see if i could bump it and get it running but no luck. the electic starter is not doing anything but the electrics work fine, no clicking or anything, checked a few things but im just unsure about this wiring it all looks abit sabotaged :L anybody have any ideas what i should do next (or if theres any common faults) not that youll be able to see anything in the pic but some of this wiring looks dodgy, also fogot to mention the neutral light dims when you press the brakes or the passing button on the lights, but the headlights dont dim when the starter is pressed or anything. any input appreciated

Can you trace the wire from the starter switch?
Check it with a multimeter to rules out the switch being faulty first.
Also, can you force the starter relay to switch the starter motor on?
(12v +ve feed to the switch input)

Hey,
okay, it looks like you are missing the servo tray there,
the wiring does look a little funky!

The starter is engaged by a solinoid hanging near the back of the gap your picture is looking into, its probly not working if there isnt even a click. You can connet the main wires directly to see what's up with the starter, this should get juice through to it and see whats up with it (your battery is charged right?!).

If you cant get the starter to tick over then bumping it will have to do, they bump really easily in first (been bumping my plenty, am to lazy to sort the starter out after the previous owner left a seal out and it filled with water *sad face*) but it will make checking the spark a little trickier

The next option would be to start tracing cables a checking them with a multimeter
