Just clip something over the L Plate. Much less hassle. ____________________ My Flickr |

Once upon a time, a Learner could carry a qualified pillion... thought that was what the question would be! And the answer is; checking RTA very carefully, the provision appears to have been 'lost' somewhere among the changes of time. So SHE cant carry you on L's.
As for you carrying HER on HER bike.... stricktly, it is NOT against the law for a full licence holder to ride a bike displaying L's as long as everything else is in accordance with RTA, C&U & licence entitlement.
It is an 'advisory' of the legalese, Provisional Licence holder MUST display L-Plates (meeting regs) A Full licence houlder SHOULD not display them.
But dont expect PLOD to be too familiar with such subtelties of symantics. L-Plates ought not be two people on the bike; pull'em; book'em ask silly questions later......
Instructing; riding solo, often rode school bikes with L's displayed; going to fill them with petrol before CBT course common one; or going to drop a bike of for a student before test or whatever; but slightly less 'contentiouse' (Unless it was DAS bike! - 500 on L's is a bit 'suss'... but big flourescent bib with 'Instructor' on the back usually explained it!)
But 'good form' is to simply stick a roll of insulation tape in the cubby box, and 'X' them out when Full-Licence holder riding.
THAT is what I have done numerouse times riding two-up with Snowie on her bike. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
Current Bikes:'Honda VF1000F' ;'CB750F2N' ;'CB125TD ( 6 3 of em!)'; 'Montesa Cota 248'. Learner FAQ's:= 'U want to Ride a Motorbike! Where Do U start?' |
