I don't know if this is a silly question but i'm going to go ahead and ask it. Right...
Say you take your A2 test and you pass, so you go and buy a bike. Lets say a CBR400, now this bike produces much more BHP than your aloud to ride.
Now you take your new bike to have it MOT'd, Okay saying that the bike is all fine and legal and should pass, will it? I mean because you should be riding that bike with restricition, and well it's not, will it still pass?

I hope that does not sound real dumb.

MOT is for the bike, not the rider. Bike can be ridden by unrestricted person. As far as I'm aware no BHP check done during MOT, only emissions.

Whether you should be riding the bike to/from the MOT is another matter Police

Anyone can take a bike to be MOT'ed, they don't have to even have a bike license. The getting it there is another matter and nothing to do with the MOT test station. A five year old could have a bike MOT'ed if it was taken there on a trailer.

So, hypothetically speaking.

If someone were to own a de-restricted 50cc bike (and they were only in posession of their CBT and were only 16).

Would the de-restriction be noted at the MOT and possibly have the bike re-classified as a 'light motorcycle'.

OR

am i talking complete bull**** and is that a total Newb question?

They wouldn't check and even if they did check they wouldn't care. You do not have to be license for the vehicle you are paying for an MOT to be done on, so if it is restricted or not isn't relevant in any way to them. You don't have to show them your license or any type of ID, you turn up with the vehicle (how you get it there is up to you) and they do the MOT test. Your license never comes into it. Thumbs Up
