Hey guys,

Just passed my CBT today so am thrilled to now get out on the road. So first step is obviously buying a bike.

I am 6ft 4, although I did my test on a YBR and felt fine, and my friends assured me I managed to not look like a traveling circus or anything while on it!

I am thinking about a van van. I have looked up the dimensions etc and seems like a cm under the YBR, so I am thinking it could be ideal. Has anyone experienced both and can comment on ride position etc?

I will obviously go and track one down to try sitting on it etc, but thought I would ask around on here to maybe save a wasted journey.

Also, question number 2. https://www.keeway.me/superlightltd.html

How bad an option is that? I have looked around the forum and seen a few bad and a few positive comments.

If anyone else has any bike suggestions along the lines/style of the van van I would love to here them.

Cheers
Scott

I'm about 6ft2 or 6ft3 and my friends tell me the bike looks like it's shrunk in the washing machine! Laughing

I am also 6,4 and had the same questions and bike choice dilemma, I went and sat on a YBR, CBF and a VanVan.

For me the YBR was the most natural and comfy riding position out of the three, the CBF was OK but the pegs were a bit high and my legs felt crunched up. The VanVan was the worst for me, it felt very low and the pegs seemed high in conjunction and it didnt feel right.

I have just had my YBR delivered and went out on it today and it was great and I know I made the right choice for me.

Cant offer any info on the Keeway sorry but as you said, going and sitting on the bikes is a must, I was thinking I was gonna like the CBF the most but when I sat on the YBR it made my decision for me.

Varadero 125, not the cheapest, but tend to hold their price and are fine for those who are on the taller side Smile

I park my bike next to a varadero 125 at work and the size difference is just ridiculous lol, as said varadero would probably be the best choice for comfort if not price. But, I'm 6"3, 14 stone and my CG is absolutely fine for me, done journeys of up to 60 miles and its been no probs...so far Razz

Another vote for the Hyosung GT125R. My lad is 6'4" and it came down to the Varadero or the Hyosung..nothing else was close to looking right! In the end he wanted the sports bike look so the Hyosung won. It has been a great bike and I have been surprised how well it performs given my lowly expectations from a 125.

https://www.hyosung.co.uk/detail.php?id=7

Here is a pic of him on it next to my CBF600S for scale...it has an 800mm seat height like the Varadero.

Do ya test and get a proper bike or get a dual-sport or road legal off-roader.

Thanks for all the replies.

Believe it or not I got a Van Van!

I took a couple of honest biking friends with me to tell me if I looked clown-esq. However, as its a large flat seat I am able to sit quite far back giving plenty of room and a very comfortable riding position.

Nice one.

I'm 6'2" and the VanVan, Varadero and Maruader were the ones on my list, and I went for the Maruader for the same reasons you state. Thumbs Up

Looking funny on a bike isn't necessarily a bad thing, so long as you're comfortable. I'm ony 6' but quite broad. I felt the YBRs are alright but I was told by a couple of people that it looked a bit small for me. Personally I liked the feeling of putting a smile on people's faces as I rode past. Same as when I still had the 125 scooter after passing test and I would carry pillions. People's faces would light up as we rode past. Even though it was at my expense, it was funny. I would actually really like a monkey bike to run round town with for the same reason. : D

But the power wasn't enough on the 125s and was destined for a larger bike eventually.
