Hi guys, what does everyone think of this new model:

https://www.momentumblog.co.uk/2011/10/honda-crosstourer-concept-will-make.html

What's the difference between this model and the crossrunner?

Aside from the double clutch option and apparently the VFR12 engine?

I'm assuming they mean the 12 engine anyway...

i went for a ride on the new crossrunner last week
https://www.westyorks.hoc.org.uk/IMAGEShoc/cross%205.jpg

what an underwhelming peice of crap,
im not sure what honda was trying to achieve with it, may be a competitor to the v-strom, but if that was the case, they failed, its even more useless, the ground clearance was pitiful, the front wheel was too small
to be any use on gravel, essentially its a shit version of the vfr800 with higher bars and a hard seat,
boo honda, they have been designing some pretty ugly bkes lately

there seems to be an evolution of uglyness coming from honda since about 2000,

mostly it just seems to effect the v4 motored bikes
but they get uglier and uglier, i thought the pinnacle of that uglyness was going to be the vfr1200, but they keep out doing themselves Very Happy

It looks like a bike cobbled from parts. The engines are used in the VFR12

its got a CB1000r swingarm and very similar wheel designs.

let alone the RWU forks. Neutral

EFA

And yes - similar 'point' a 1200GS or various other big upright tourers.

Not much really, especially when they don't have the marketing that BMW has in that area.

Well, controversially maybe, I quite like the Crosstourer.

If it's as heavy as the regular VFR1200 then forget it.

A recent feature in bike came up with lots of good alternate names for it such as the crossdresser and angry jogger Laughing

So why won't the concept work then considering it already is with the Kawasaki Versys?

Exactly, and the Tiger 800 XC, it looks just like the BMW F800GS.

Perhaps Honda just found a load of spare parts in their warehouse, bolted them together and tada...... Crosstourer/runner/dresser etc

The Versys is light, simple and both cheap to buy and run. I'll be surprised if the Crosstourer manages to be even one of these things.

The Versys was cheap to buy back in 2008 when the base model could be purchased for £4500 but now the base model is £6499 and the top model is £7359 so not really cheap any more and my experiences with an ER6-F suggest they aren't that cheap to run either.

"Honda" "Crosstourer":

https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zqwpJo5iwVs/Tp_O5QiebrI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/xiQ1kEDUUcs/s400/SV4X_20113SA.jpg

Really, Honda? Really? That's a pretty blatant attempt to carve a slice out of the GS market. I'm surprised that they haven't paid what's-his-name, Ewan McGregor's mate, to pimp it for them.

Bad show, Honda, very bad show.

Of course it's an attempt to get a slice of the adventure market, and what is wrong with that? How is it any different to BMW's S1000RR? Or Ducati's Diavel?

Any company has to expand it's range to survive, and to not expand into the fastest growing sector is just daft.

If you take into account just the bodywork, the shape reminds me of one of those yellow plastic ducks.

I don't dislike it though, actually I find it kind of appealing, but would only have one as a second bike.

It's a breathtakingly blatant styling rip off, is my issue.

How about thriving through innovation rather than just copying someone else's bike?

It's not much different to Chinese copy-bikes, come to think of it.

The one merit in its marketwank is that they say it's got "off road styling" so at least they're not selling to people who'll actually take it off tarmac. I guess they know their market. Very Happy
