I have been looking for a 125 for some time, I live in Cornwall, and I know how much you guys like CG's and YBR's and all the other good starter bikes, but I have waited and waited, and there have been none for sale anywhere near me, and I can't wait to get on the road.
I found this on gumtree about 20 minutes away from my house, please tell me what you think? Thankyou!

Not learner legal and wont be able to take test on it...
Also big bore would probably make it much more highly strung...and not that I doubt your mechanical skills... will need rebuilding at decent intervals.
I have a 125 for sale in the for sale section, have a look... you can get it delivered pretty cheap |

I had no idea it wasn't learner legal! I thought as long as the engine size was 125 then I was good to go :l thanks!

I'm sure someone will put a more detailed and eloquent reply later, but here is my 2pence:
The CGs and the like are reliable, 4 stroke, confidence inspiring learning machines, and an ideal first step out into the world of bikes. They are plenty fast enough for most situations.
The aprilia rs is faster, (arguably) less reliable and a 2 stroke. Higher running costs, and probably not quite as efficient on fuel Also, if you were unfortunate enough to drop it, all those pretty fairings could get ruined. The two options really are chalk and cheese.
Edit - Didn't notice all the details in the ad, as paddy said, its not learner legal.
Depending on your age though, that £800 could get you professional training, and your test fees out the way to get you a full license. With a fair few ££ left over. Then your biking world opens up immensely!
I know that may or may not be any use, good luck in whatever you choose though |

I have tried ebay ): there's nothing but expensive plastic 125's. I'd be quite happy with a ybr or the like, but there is nothing! ): It's not like I have a van or anything to go and pick one up elsewhere either. |

Hi, I have a Lifan 125 I'll be selling as soon as I've got my test passed (in Devon, tq12). It's not great, but I've looked after it as best I can and it's run fine as a daily commuter for the last year or so. Yes it's chinese, but from one of the better (least bad) companies. I've been told that some fall apart straight away, and others seem to run for years, so it looks like I got one of the better ones. (I've actually seen another locally a few times in red, mine's silver)
If you were interested, I'd want to have it checked over first by someone more qualified, and sort out any issues that might be pointed out. On the plus side I've put quite a lot of money into it, it's had a new chain, new cables, new rear tyre and a few other bits. I'd probably want to sell it for about 4-5 hundered squid or so.
Let me know if you're interested. Otherwise, I hope you find something to your liking soon! Those ybr's a pretty nice imo, I did my cbt on one. ____________________ Current: VFR800 2008 13.7k and rising rapidly!

I've heard they can be pretty tempermental... and I don't want to look like some spoilt chav buzzing around town on a 2 stroke.
But that one didn't half look pretty to me |

It's an overpriced dog of a 125 being sold by a guy who cannot afford a tenner to put it right nor a tenner to put credit on his phone.
It'll be a money-pit - don't touch it. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
